Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary The Operations & Facilities Management Department at Washington University School of Medicine is committed to delivering a comprehensive range of services to support the medical campus. We oversee maintenance and operations for 65 buildings, covering more than 11.1 million gross square feet of space. This includes the 11-story, 609,000-square-foot neuroscience research building, which houses one of the world's highest concentrations of neuroscientists. Our responsibilities include operational and administrative support, strategic planning, and project management. Furthermore, as the School of Medicine continues to expand its presence both on and off campus in areas such as teaching, clinical care, and research, our team remains instrumental in ensuring the seamless delivery of clinical care, advancing research initiatives, and facilitating educational endeavors. Performs locksmithing duties for Washington University School of Medicine. May provide emergency response for emergencies occurring during his/her shift and repair items with capability to all phases of mechanical systems. Repairs requiring a more highly skilled craftsperson should be reported to the immediate supervisor. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Installs, repairs, and re-keys cylinders, evaluates and repairs door locks, fabricates and provides maintenance in a timely manner, and inspects locks and doors to ensure they are properly functioning to maintain a safe and secure campus. Cuts or duplicates keys from existing keys, patterns or codes. Stamps keys. Uses work order management system to enter and retrieve work orders and performs repairs and installs as needed. Maintains equipment inventory, spare parts, and components for supported devices and attaches labels to record relevant data. Assists in setting up maintenance schedules and data forms. Documents work performed in a computerized maintenance system. Cleans and maintains equipment used and equipment spaces. Provides recommendations regarding industry best practices for locking devices and hardware applications and installations. Performs other duties as assigned. Physical Effort Typically sitting at a desk or a table. Considerable amount of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching to gain access to pipes, wiring, and equipment. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
