Job Summary Teachers Retirement Association (TRA) has been providing pension coverage to Minnesota educators for decades, with a mission to help members and their beneficiaries plan for an independent and financially secure retirement. We are currently seeking job candidates with strong information technology experience in using quality control methodologies and technologies, as well as effective organizational and interpersonal skills for our IT Quality Assurance Analyst role. The purpose for this position is to perform IT Quality Assurance/Control functions supporting the testing of TRA's Pension Application system(s). The incumbent hired into this role will analyze and test web-based applications in order to identify deficiencies/defects within the various software systems that TRA's stakeholders use in order to resolve new and re-occurring problems as they occur. The incumbent will further be tasked with reviewing business requirements; preparing, documenting, and executing testing criteria, cases, and scripts for TRA IT system projects; and logging/tracking defects. This position is located in our St. Paul, Minnesota office and may be eligible for a work schedule that includes some teleworking. Additionally, the incumbent hired into this position must also possess the ability to secure their own transportation for in-state business travel, conferences, and/or trainings. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time for this role. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Two (2) years of professional experience performing Information Technology Quality Assurance/Quality Control functions. A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Applications or a related field may substitute for two (2) years of experience OR a related Associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year. Experience must demonstrate the following: Technical ability, knowledge, and experience with Knowledge of Quality Assurance Testing, Quality Assurance/Quality Control methodologies, processes, and technologies including manual, integration, and performance testing Experience using enterprise content management tools, such as SharePoint and software issue tracking tools, such as JIRA Experience developing test cases, test scripts/reports, and test scenarios to create test data using SQL queries Experience in defects reporting/triage process Experience in web-based application testing Ability to identify defects from test cases run and other means not specifically documented Ability to independently plan, organize, and successfully manage competing projects, priorities, and deadlines. Ability to diagnose problems and recommend alternative solutions. Strong interpersonal, written communication, and verbal communication skills necessary to collaborate on enterprise projects; present complex information to users in a comprehensive style; and influence others to resolve conflicting viewpoints. Advanced proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Cisco WebEx; or equivalent software packages. Successful candidates must also be able to secure own transportation for in-state business travel, conferences, and/or trainings. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time for this role. Preferred Qualifications Three (3) or more years of experience performing IT Quality Assurance/Quality Control functions. Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies specific to the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Testing experience in pension/banking/finance related applications. Knowledge of Test automation tools, such as Test Complete. Quality assurance certifications, like the International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB) certification. Physical Requirements This position requires occasional transporting of articles such as file folders, ledgers and/or small tools. May be required to move or maintain a stationary position for long periods of time.
