A reputable law firm with over 100 attorneys in Newport Beach, CA is seeking a Litigation Secretary for their growing litigation department. Under the guidance of the Litigation Manager and the assistance of support departments and a close-knit team, the Litigation Secretary will be supporting 2-4 attorneys with state and some federal filings, managing deadlines, and preparing routine legal documents such as pleadings and motions. This is a fully onsite position. Responsibilities: General case management including management of ongoing assigned court and case deadlines. Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, legal memoranda. File court documents, primarily with CA state courts. Identify and submit legal documents for docketing, court and case deadlines using firm software Assist in preparation of matrices, charts, and spreadsheets as needed Assist in preparation of privilege log Assist with mediation and trial preparation Keep accurate time records for billable tasks Qualifications/Requirements: Undergraduate degree and/or ABA approved paralegal certificate preferred 3+ years o litigation experience as a legal secretary and/or junior paralegal. Possess excellent written, communication and proofreading skills with attention to detail Ability to function in a professional and polite manner when dealing with clients, co-workers, court personnel and others High degree of self-directed initiative and individual judgment Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Adobe and PowerPoint) and NetDocs. The compensation range for this position is $65,000-$100,000. The firm also offers health insurance from day one , profit sharing of 8% after 2 years of employment, and a discretionary bonus.
