Job Summary : We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Engineering Supervisor specializing in Protection & Controls (P&C) for substation projects. The successful candidate will lead and manage a team of engineers and designers in the planning, design, and execution of P&C systems for electrical substations. You will be responsible for ensuring the successful completion of projects, adhering to safety, quality, and technical standards, while supporting business objectives and ensuring client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities : Supervision & Leadership : Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of engineers and technical staff in the design, implementation, and commissioning of P&C systems for substations. Foster a collaborative work environment, ensuring effective communication, training, and professional development of the team. Manage team workloads, assignments, and ensure deadlines and project milestones are met. Oversee adherence to industry standards, best practices, and company policies. Design & Engineering : Provide technical leadership in the design and development of P&C systems for substations, including relay settings, control schematics, and protection schemes. Review and approve detailed design drawings, technical specifications, and related documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integration of all substation systems (civil, electrical, SCADA, etc.). Conduct power system studies including relay coordination, short-circuit analysis, and load flow studies. Project Management : Manage engineering activities across multiple substation projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. Interface with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to ensure project requirements and deliverables are clearly defined and met. Provide regular project updates and reports to senior management and clients. Identify and mitigate risks, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards. Quality Assurance & Compliance : Ensure all P&C designs and installations meet national, local, and client-specific standards (e.g., NERC, IEEE, IEC, and other relevant standards). Perform quality assurance reviews of engineering documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established protocols. Oversee testing and commissioning activities, ensuring proper operation of protection systems. Continuous Improvement : Stay updated on industry advancements, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in the field of Protection & Controls. Identify areas for process improvements and contribute to the development of engineering practices and standards. Required Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe. Minimum of 8 years of experience in Protection & Controls engineering for electrical substations. Experience in leading or supervising engineering teams. Extensive knowledge of electrical substation systems, including high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) equipment. Proficiency in P&C design software and power system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, ASPEN). Strong understanding of NERC, IEEE, IEC, and other relevant industry standards. Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and deliverables. Skills & Competencies : Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications : Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Experience working with SCADA, automation, and communication systems within substations. Familiarity with utility company practices and large-scale substation projects. Professional Engineer License (PE) required.
