Engineering Director Location: Sheboygan, WI Job Type: Full-time, On-site Level: Senior level Industry: Machinery Manufacturing About the Company : A trusted provider of automated packaging systems, offering full-line, turnkey solutions to enhance packaging efficiency. They specialize in user-friendly premade pouch packing machines, cost-effective VFFS baggers, high-speed vertical baggers, and multilane stick packaging machines, serving diverse industries such as food products and pharmaceuticals. About the Role: As the Director of Engineering, you will lead and manage a team of engineers across four disciplines: applications engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and R&D engineering. You will oversee the design, development, testing, and implementation of innovative and cost-effective packaging solutions for our clients. You will also collaborate with other departments, such as sales, marketing, and operations, to ensure the quality and efficiency of our products and services. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute the engineering strategy and vision, aligning with business goals and customer needs. Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, providing guidance, feedback, and career development opportunities. Establish and maintain engineering standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices. Coordinate and oversee engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring specifications, budget, and timeline are met. Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and documentation for accuracy and quality. Research and evaluate new technologies, methods, and materials, implementing them into engineering processes and products. Collaborate with other directors, managers, and stakeholders to communicate engineering progress, issues, and solutions. Manage and execute engineering projects end-to-end, resolving any arising issues. Represent the engineering department in external meetings, presentations, and negotiations with clients, suppliers, and partners. Review overall contractual requirements for projects and process methodology. Influence the engineering department to drive business strategies and plans. Develop and monitor departmental metrics and quarterly goals. Implement capacity planning methods and proactively monitor progress. Drive engagement within the engineering department and connectivity to the organization. Evaluate and improve systems and processes to effectively meet project requirements and profitability goals. Implement staffing strategies. Work collectively with engineering teams to accomplish business needs. Active involvement in developing and simplifying new products and setting timelines. Comply with ERP software and projects by setting requirements, goals, and timelines. Implement best practice or SOP engineering methods. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred. At least 10 years of engineering experience, with 5 years in a leadership or management role. Minimum of 3 years of engineering management of automation systems or robotics. Minimum of 3 years of technical project management experience. Proven track record of managing and delivering complex engineering projects. Strong knowledge of engineering principles, methods, and tools, particularly in packaging equipment and systems. Proficient in engineering software such as CAD, CAM, and PLCs. Willingness to travel as needed. General Skills/Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to understand and execute on processes. Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as SharePoint, Excel, Teams, etc. Self-motivated and flexible attitude. Strong computer and mathematical skills. Exceptional communication skills. Commitment, accuracy, accountability, and effective communication. Desired Proficiencies: Extensive experience managing people and teams.
