The EHS and Facilities Manager for the Convatec Technology Center - Boston (CTEC Boston) is the lead responsible for managing the site's day-to-day operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant workflow throughout the facility. Reporting to the Site Director (Vice President of R&D) within the Technology and Innovation (T&I) function, the EHS and Facilities manager has two main duties. (1) overseeing an effective Health & Safety program for the site, and (2) managing and maintaining the facilities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Health and Safety Lead and coordinate the laboratories' and overall facility's safety program Effectively develop and deploy necessary lab procedures, ensuring legislative compliance, along with meeting corporate requirements Maintain and promote a safe, efficient, and professional working environment Manage safety incident and hazard observation reporting Participative engagement with Convatec's Global EHS team to ensure the site's objectives and policies and procedures are aligned with Convatec Corporate Safety Objectives Conduct and track laboratory safety and compliance trainings on topics such as chemical hygiene, electrical safety, and 5S Perform routine safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify continuous improvements. Identify gaps and see improvements through to completion. Manage chemical inventory, storage, waste handling and disposal; and ensure that SDS documents are up to date for all chemicals. Evaluate and approve new chemicals and materials. Manage regular safety equipment checks (e.g. eye washes, showers, etc.) Manage the facility Emergency Response Procedure and train other laboratory staff. Maintain on-call schedule to ensure proper communication for emergencies or outages. Maintain and track PPE inventory (lab coats, gloves, etc.) Manage and track lab access, including employees, visitors, and tours. Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the site. Coordinate with external safety vendors for continuous maintenance of our safety program and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Facility Management Develop and manage site budget for CTEC Boston. Maintain relationship with landlord Handle rent, building and construction related matters Ensure the office is organized and functioning. Address emerging issues as needed, e.g. submit work orders with building management or implement standards, etc. Overall site-related vendor management (vendor identification, contracting and ongoing management) Oversee the site procurement process from vendor creations to purchase order processing in SAP Propose and oversee facilities investments Handle shipping and receiving for the site, leveraging necessary systems Manage office access through Open Path (card inventory, activate and deactivate accounts) Manage desk booking system (Condeco) including account activation/deactivation, system set up Run operations and security committee and participate in other committees as needed Triaging with IT to drive proper functioning of AV, network and other systems Laboratory Operations Participate in the lab fit-out and organization. Help develop lab processes and environment. Drive the lab 5s program Establish lab-related vendors and purchasing protocols. Manage contracts with service providers Track and maintain consumable inventory (towels, pipettes, etc.) Maintain equipment records (maintenance, calibration, training) and a roadmap for capability expansion Assist with procurement: Organize quotes, specifications, URSs and prepare capital request packages for lab equipment. Work with finance and vendors to order and receive equipment. Manage installation and qualification with vendor and technical team Set up and monitor equipment calibration and maintenance schedules. Coordinate with vendors to establish and monitor support agreements and conduct calibration and maintenance. Manage movement of equipment between lab and offsite storage Troubleshoot equipment issues, conduct minor repairs & maintenance tasks. Coordinate with vendors and technical team for repairs when necessary Conduct minor equipment upgrades. Coordinate with vendors and technical teams to justify and implement major equipment upgrades or software upgrades. Ensure preventative maintenance and other servicing for laboratory equipment includes appropriate safety measures, such as lockout/ tag out. IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE: Skills & Experience: At least 3 years' experience managing a physical, chemical, or biological lab or machine shop At least 3 years' experience managing a facility, including budget management, establishing policies and vendor identification and management Bias for action, demonstrated practical problem solving. Resourceful Time management skills. Ability to keep track of and execute multiple priorities Ability to anticipate challenges/needs and address them proactively Solid computer skills including MS office suite Ability to forecast and manage the site's annual budget Meticulous attention to detail Strong organizational skills both in physical space (organizing the lab) and with information (organizing vendors, contracts, purchasing, etc.) Sprit of continuous improvement Service-oriented mindset and strong collaborator Drive to build new systems, processes, and continuously improving ways of working. Qualifications/Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or comparable experience Working knowledge and understanding of compliance with FDA and OSHA regulations Training in OSHA laboratory procedures for Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemical (29 CFR 1910.1450) and DOT Hazmat/RCRA training.
