Job Details Level Experienced Job Location MG Engineering DPC - New York, NY Education Level Bachelors Job Shift Full-Time Job Category Engineering Description The Lead Plumbing & Fire Protection Designer is a senior member of the project team, working under the direct supervision of the Trade Design Manager to lead and manage project design initiatives. This includes supervising a team of Design professionals with a goal to complete high-quality trade-specific schematics & layouts based on solid design principles. The Lead Designer manages all design team project functions, including surveys, calculations, selections & layouts, performs all project phases, and is called upon to play a lead role in effectively communicating with peers, supervisors, vendors, consultants, clients & stakeholders. This includes providing leadership support in the construction administration process with the ability to process and review shop drawings, perform field observations, and prepare respective reports. The Lead Designer is fully capable of assuming the Job Captain function. Qualifications Minimum 6yrs experience working as a Designer, of which at least 2yrs were spent in a Senior Designer Role, as part of a professional engineering project team, under the direct or indirect supervision of a licensed professional engineer. Minimum 2yrs experience leading engineering projects of various sizes and complexities. Minimum 2yrs experience leading engineering teams of various sizes. 4-year Engineering degree. Professional Engineering License preferred. Great interpersonal skills. Polished communication skills (both verbal & writing). Highly organized and composed under pressure. Must be able to manage strict timelines with multiple projects in order to meet deadlines under high-pressure environment. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word. Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD & REVIT. Role-Specific Competencies Computer Aided Design Level 2 (Advanced Proficiency) AutoCAD & REVIT Able to develop professional drawing templates. Create multi-scale views on one page. Know how to use trans-spatial text and dimensions. Utilize object and layer filtering. Globally edit entities. Analyze and apply methods to accurately create complex geometry. Streamline repetitive tasks. Create custom linetypes. Use special fonts. Plumbing, Sprinkler & Fire Protection Engineering Level 3 (Functional Mastery) Perform independent design of any type of with inherent knowledge, minimal research and direction. Advanced use of company standards and templates. Can recognize and troubleshoot existing systems in order to apply solutions and recommendations. Novice at generating specifications based on company standard templates. Has advanced knowledge of codes and standards and can perform advanced research and provide interpretation. Self-sufficient in producing existing conditions surveys and due diligence reports including cost estimates. Advanced knowledge of written specifications and standards in the office.
