Position Summary The Environmental Service Worker will be responsible for ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, able to work independently, and has a strong commitment to providing a high level of service. The Environmental Services Worker performs general cleaning assignments including but not limited to: stripping and refinishing of floors, carpet cleaning and extraction, trash removal, and removal of bio-medical waste from building to holding site. The Environmental Service Worker removes confidential documents to holding area as needed and required. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and education. Starting compensation ranges from $15.00 - $21.75 hourly. This is a non-exempt position. Weekend rotation is required. This position is eligible for shift differentials if working qualified shift. Position Qualifications Minimum Education High School Diploma or GED is preferred, but not required. Experience Prior experience in environmental services or healthcare setting preferred. Required Registration/License/Certification Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public, patients, family, staff, and physicians and acts within the chain of command, utilizing positive verbal and non-verbal skills Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established cleaning protocols. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions Must be able to read, write, and count Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service to patients, family, staff, and physicians Knowledge of infection control procedures and regulations. Physical Demands Manual dexterity and mobility Prolonged, extensive or considerable sitting/standing/walking Bending, squatting, twisting, and turning Near acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less Working Conditions Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases Frequently exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment, odorous chemicals and specimens, and unpleasant elements (accident, injury, slippery surfaces, uneven surfaces), etc. Frequently per shift: lifts, carries, pushes, and/or pulls > 50 lbs.
