Position Summary: Lead the development, maintenance, and evolution of a comprehensive transportation strategy across the ADUSA Distribution network. Create key transportation management metrics that will drive best in class performance across the ADUSA transportation network. Work collaboratively with Regional Supply Chain Operations, Demand Management, Category, Logistics, and brand leadership to ensure Supply Chain goals and initiatives are met or exceeded. Lead ADUSA Distribution and Transportation in the transportation industry to advance network competencies and industry standards and promote ADUSA's interests in the transportation industry. Essential Functions: Provide management for day-to-day activities of regional transportation roles to guide the implementation of strategies and initiatives for transportation impacting 20+ regional Supply Chain Campuses. Work collaboratively across departments to meet budgeted key performance metrics, which include, but are not limited to: Cost per Mile, On Time Delivery, Driver availability and Staffing. These key performance metrics are meant to be comprehensive in nature but are not limited to the list above due to changing nature of business priorities. Partner with Logistics and Supply Chain Senior Operational Leadership to ensure Transportation key performance indicators are developed, analyzed, and effectively reported. Direct and create best practices on compliance of standards for the Transportation operations across the ADUSA distribution network. Develop, maintain, and evolve compliance programs to ensure consistent application of standard operating procedures, across the network, to protect safety and value of assets. Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local agencies (e.g. DOT) to include registrations, tolls etc. Responsible for the creation, maintenance, and evolution of training programs for all distribution network associates on transportation operations, to include capacity management, holiday and expected peak planning as well as unplanned/storm events. Provide technical guidance and input to the network capital plan for all Transportation assets. Responsible for the development and implementation of driver incentive and pay programs. Lead the identification and execution of revenue generating initiatives (i.e. fleet for hire, backhaul, etc.) Work closely with all 3rd party vendors and providers throughout network to ensure maximum service to brands. Serving as the transportation expert internally and externally on transportation principles, trends, and insights within transportation industry. Provide leadership that will motivate employees and function as an effective promoter of change and growth. Provide support for the implementation of a continuous improvement culture Create new methods and procedures based on industry best practices, trends and best in class external benchmarking. Act as a supply chain leader to identify opportunities that drive out cost and improve service within the network. Responsible for the development, talent planning and performance management of associates. Knowledge: Detailed understanding of end-to-end supply chain operations Advanced understanding of large-scale grocery transportation industry best practices and metrics Advanced MS Excel Skills: Excellent organizational, planning, influence, communication, and presentation skills Self-motivated and persuasive in presenting and selling ideas and executing their implementation Abilities: Ability to manage day to day activity in support of identified business area and functional area strategies Ability to influence organizational alignment across multiple business areas Ability to take an educated risk with implementing programs that support consumer demands. Ability to think innovatively Demonstrate a personal acceptance of change and the ability to adapt and drive change Demonstrated ability to implement and analyze transportation industry using expert insights and analyzing trends.
