What You Can Expect Working in the Sandblaster Position The Industrial Sandblaster will use abrasive application techniques and equipment to professionally blast interior and exterior surfaces of storm shelter units and other engineered buildings. As an Industrial Sandblaster, you will provide consistent and quality work in support of RedGuard Diversified Structure's goal of delivering customers a quality product on time. Responsibilities Shovels or pours abrasives such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper. Adjusts valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle. Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive-laden compressed air, over surface of parts. Directs nozzle over surface of large steel buildings until prescribed areas are thoroughly abraded to specification. Reads and interprets blueprints and lays out area for blasting; examines finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications. Maintenance of the sandblasting equipment, such as cleaning and changing nozzles. Operates heavy machinery, such as a skid steer or forklift for cleaning the sandblasting booth. Builds scaffolding, climbs ladders, and uses safety harness according to safety regulations. Cross-trains and uses additional trade skills in multiple stages of the manufacturing process as assigned. Follows established safety and security rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area and environment. Minimum Qualifications 6+ months experience of sand or shot blasting. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to follow instructions and provide consistent work. Basic computer skills. Ability to operate heavy equipment. Ability to use hand tools and power tools. Preferred Qualifications 1+ years sandblasting experience. Must have adequate balance and ability to climb ladders and scaffolding. Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to lift hoses that weigh up to 100 pounds around the sandblasting booth. Must meet physical requirements for wearing air-fit blasting hood and full suit. The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
