Position Overview: The Director of Catering and Special Events will lead an oversee the event/conference planning team at the hotel. This role is responsible for coordinating and executing a variety of events, including corporate gatherings, social events, and community activities. This role involves working closely with clients to understand their vision and ensuring that each event is executed flawlessly from concept to completion. This role involves collaborating with clients, leading a dedicated team, and driving revenue through exceptional service and innovative offerings. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to enhance catering and event services, increase revenue, and improve customer satisfaction. Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions for their events. Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise event planners, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Budget Management: Prepare and manage event budgets, ensuring profitability while maintaining high-quality service. Event Coordination: Oversee all logistical aspects of the event planning process. Marketing & Sales: Collaborate with the marketing team to promote catering and events services, develop promotional materials, and attend industry trade shows and networking events. Special Events: Head planner on all special events such as New Year's Eve, St. Patrick's Parade Day & more. Quality Control: Ensure that all events meet the highest standards of quality and service, conducting post-event evaluations to identify areas for improvement. Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and regulatory standards in all catering and event operations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in catering and events management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Proficiency in event management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a high-volume catering environment. Knowledge of food and beverage trends and menu development. Certification in event planning or catering management. Working Conditions: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies as required We are an equal opportunity employer.
