Qualifications: High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. Completion of one of the following: a. Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician program or b. Fundamentals of Nursing program from an accredited school of nursing or c. HMH PCT Apprenticeship Program d. Or equivalent medical background experience, such as EMT, Home Health Aide, CMA, MA, PCT, Nursing Assistant. At least one (1) year PCT experience in a hospital setting is required. Pediatric Emergency Department or Emergency Department or Labor and Delivery experience required. The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, a strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers, an exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education and the ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care and service based on a strong sense of patient focus are all required. Experienced or certified in phlebotomy and checking EKG, vital signs and blood sugar preferred. Responsibilities: A day in the life of a Patient Care and Clinical Equipment Coordinator at Hackensack Meridian Health includes: Interacts with the team to resolve equipment issues, including nurses, physicians, ANMs, and nursing manager Assures the presence, functionality and cleanliness of all necessary equipment. Checks and maintains code cart, O2, and other emergency medical equipment as directed. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly audits of assigned equipment and patient rooms. Checks inventory of assigned procedure carts and restocks as needed. Cleans, organizes, and maintains equipment in storage areas. Serves as liaison with Bio Med, Sterile Processing, Materials Management, and Plant Operations departments Delivers and picks up equipment and supplies from Sterile Processing promptly. Tracks equipment that is out for repair and follows up routinely. Maintains whiteboard with equipment updates and reviews with the team in daily huddles. Logs asset tracking numbers and locates equipment as needed. Documents all data and findings in a consistent, comprehensive and legible manner. Documentation includes, but is not limited to equipment logs, receivers, environment of care logs, repair tags, service reports and all other medical records compliance where applicable. Submits ordering requisitions of the required supplies needed for the Pediatric Emergency Department Maintains PAR levels of all Pediatric Emergency Department Supplies. Placing supply orders with direct leader approval when necessary. Maintains proper documentation on purchase orders. Manages the stock of supplies and ensures stocked areas are organized and well kept, where applicable Demonstrates forward thinking of equipment needs and supply chain challenges. Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients on the unit. Obtains vital signs, draws intravenous or capillary blood, performs venipuncture for laboratory tests, and collects other specimens on an as needed basis. Performs EKG for patients as directed. Demonstrates a reliable and dependable ability to follow through with designated responsibilities in the collecting, labeling, and transporting of specimens to the proper area at the appropriate time: always correctly labels type of specimen collected, including patients name and room number. Provides direct hygiene and comfort care to patients including bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, incontinent care, and bed making on an as needed basis. Assists in the transport of patients to departments or units upon request. Assists with preparation as necessary assuring the patient is assisted with meals/ or fed as needed. Ensures the room environment is prepared for admission. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs not limited to (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.). Recognizes and responds to opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction. Maintains a working knowledge of all regulatory guidelines. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Physical Demands Long periods of sitting with frequent standing, walking or moving. Requires periods of keying on the computer terminal to input information. Requires constant verbal communication in person or using the phone. Exposure to communicable diseases. Lifting > 35 pounds. Extended wearing of PPE. Application of surgical mask for long periods of time.
