JOB TITLE: Adventure-Based Counselor Department: Hat Creek Camp Job Status : Active FLSA Status: Non-exempt Reports To: Therapeutic Services Coordinator Grade/Level: Amount of Travel Required: 75-90% of travel time expected Job Type : Part-Time Positions Supervised: N/A Work Schedule: varies Position Summary The purpose of this position is to fulfill the mission of Hat Creek Camp's Adventure-Based Counseling program by providing mentoring and counseling that facilitates a collaborative process of growth and change with individuals and families. Essential Functions Provides individual, group, and family therapy to clients as assigned by the Therapeutic Services Coordinator Ensures that counseling sessions are designed to meet the needs of the youth and family Completes all required paperwork for client charts and billing in a timely manner Coordinate services with a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, house parents, administrative staff, medical staff, and community agencies Maintains client confidentiality and other ethical standards outlined by the state licensing board Complies with all requirements of the contractual agreements with localities served. DELIVERABLES : Adventure-Based Counselors are expected to work under the clinical direction of the Therapeutic Services Coordinator to assess clinical needs and develop treatment strategies with weekly counseling sessions to meet such in a timely and efficient manner with specific attention to the offering of understanding of the correlation between physiology, cognitions, and behaviors. Treatment should offer real world transferrable application for youth and include the input and cooperation of the identified guardians. Adventure-Based Counselors are to document progress and communicate such with treatment providers on a regular basis to promote a comprehensive approach to treatment. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS & ABILITIES Knowledge of: Human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. Principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis and treatment of conditions found in the DSM-5 Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction Basic computer programs such as: Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Internet, and Database applications Current counseling/therapy techniques and methodologies Skills: Basic technological skills: using computers, fax machines, and telephones Skilled in assessment, evaluation, application of appropriate therapeutic methods Abilities: To communicate both orally and in writing To report necessary counseling information in a clear, concise, and complete way To make informed, objective decisions with integrity To collaborate effectively with other team members Education: Bachelors in Human Services related field Experience: 1 year Computer Skills: Certification & Licenses: N/A Other Requirements: DMV record Background Check Reliable transportation Motor vehicle insurance coverage PHYSICAL DEMANDS: N (Not Applicable) Activity is not applicable to this position.
