Location : Andover, MA Job Type: Temporary Job Number: S25193 Department: Andover High School Opening Date: 10/15/2024 Closing Date: Continuous FTE: 1.0 Minimum Hours per Week: 31.25 Responsibilities -Counsels students in regards to course selection and academic progress. -Counsels students regarding post-secondary plans; i.e. college/vocational school choices; career options and employment. -Assists students with all procedures related to post-secondary planning. -Counsels students regarding personal/social issues. -Works cooperatively with families to provide an environment in which self-esteem, responsibility and achievement will thrive. -Develops and maintains peer counseling strategies where appropriate. -Contributes to, and maintains, the on-going communication network between students, parents, teachers, and administrators, by writing student references, working with colleges, social agencies, etc. -Contributes to, and maintains, department-related procedures and functions. Qualifications -Massachusetts certification in guidance: 9-12. -Master's degree. -Evidence of experience in school counseling (9-12) and knowledge of current counseling strategies. -Demonstrated experience in both individual and group counseling. -Demonstrated experience in peer counseling programs. -Demonstrated experience with extensive post-secondary educational programs. -Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication.
