ABOUT THE ROLE As the Schools' Building Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in the operations and day-to-day functions of the KSS and Shu Ren International Schools' five locations in the Bay Area (Oakland - 2, Berkeley - 2, Walnut Creek - 1). This role involves administrative and communication duties (managing tickets, informing requestors of their status, keeping stakeholders informed regarding delays, timelines, etc.) as well as facilities work. This is a hands-on role, and when not at school sites, the position will be based out of our school located in the Lincoln Highlands neighborhood of Oakland. You must have a vehicle and be prepared to drive regularly between sites (mileage reimbursed). Hours can be flexible to allow for work done on locations when students are not present. RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and supervise all school buildings, being proactive in repair management while creating and executing long-term care and maintenance plans for our schools. Be familiar with rules and regulations of building usage, especially for preschool and elementary school facilities Conduct all facilities management, including building repairs, construction, moves, janitorial and custodial functions, and relations with vendors and neighbors. Manage inventory, including consumables and building supplies, ensuring that needed items are in stock. Organize all stock and inventory and replace as needed. Manage maintenance ordering to ensure the best use of resources is applied. Support all special events, including admissions and enrolled family events and other one-off events by managing set-up, furniture placement, and ensuring cleaning is completed in a timely and proper manner. Identify, troubleshoot, and repair minor electrical problems, plumbing issues, HVAC issues, mechanical equipment, lighting, appliances, and other applicable items related to maintenance. Identify and perform minor repairs to structural surfaces including walls, ceilings, and floors, including light repainting of walls. Maintain a clean and well-organized workspace, including identifying hazards in storage and paths of egress. Follow the preventative maintenance schedule as directed by the Director of Plant Operations and Capital Projects. YOU ARE A GREAT FIT FOR THIS ROLE IF You are extremely well organized and skilled in managing processes and procedures. You have experience managing facilities and working with a ticketing system. You have a strong aesthetic sensibility and enjoy making sure facilities look and feel great. You are computer literate and able to manage emails, a ticketing system, online orders, tracking purchases, and submitting receipts and expenses online. You are a good communicator, both written and verbal. You are able to communicate in English effectively via email, over the phone, and in person. You are proactive and enjoy solving complex problems. Fluency in English is required; conversational or fluent Spanish or Mandarin is a plus. You enjoy working with others, you are collaborative, and bring a positive energy to everything you do. Requirements REQUIREMENTS GED minimum requirement. 5+ years of experience as a Facilities Manager or similar, preferably in an educational environment. Experience managing an online ticketing system preferred. Excellent English grammar and professional writing skills; fluency in Spanish is a plus. Computer literate, with experience in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must have a personal vehicle for travel between school sites (mileage will be reimbursed). REQUIRED PHYSICAL ABILITIES Sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. Moderate to heavy lifting (up to 75 pounds). Reaching, stretching, stooping, pulling, pushing, climbing, twisting, kneeling, crouching, squatting, and manual dexterity. Driving vehicles and operating other equipment.
