Job Details Job Location VTC Location - Fairmont, WV Position Type Part Time Education Level GED Job Shift Midnight Description NATURE OF WORK: With supervision, the Residential Assistant functions as a member of the treatment team in a residential extended care treatment setting for adults with a primary diagnosis of substance use disorder, providing the necessary supports and supervision to assist the clients meet their treatment goals. The Residential Assistant has the responsibility to assist in the implementation of a therapeutic residential program to provide crisis stabilization and residential treatment. This includes monitoring and documenting of progress toward individual and program goals, assisting with exercise preparations, insuring that rules of the program are followed and addressed when non-compliance is observed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Orient the resident to the program; primarily to the schedule, the rules, the living environment, and program expectations of the resident. Monitor residents behavior and activities and facilitates appropriate interventions provided when needed, recording this clearly and concisely according to program procedure. Coordinate the oversight of the residents chores, purchase needed supplies, and note all needed house repairs. Pick up contracted meals at John Manchin Senior Center and food supplies as ordered per program procedure. Attend scheduled staff meetings. Participate in client care treatment planning. Respect the rights and responsibilities of the residents served. Documentation as required by Valley, Medicaid, Medicare and other licensing agencies. Employee ensures that documentation (such as Direct Services Progress Notes, Client Transportation, etc.) is completed accurately and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and will reflect services the client(s) has received as appropriate. Adhere to agency policies and procedures regarding confidentiality regulations. Cross-train as an RA in both the mens (ACT Unit) and womens (New Beginnings) residential programs. Attends all mandated trainings related to profession and enhances knowledge and/or skills, which includes Essential Learning Trainings. Supports and helps in the training of new employees. Assure that the safety, health and well-being of consumers are always maintained on or off site. Transportation of clients to appointments/activities in the community using a company vehicle. Monitors, maintains and use appropriately, all equipment and supplies. Support and help in the training of new employees. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to perform Essential Duties as outlined below. High School Graduate or equivalent. Valid Drivers License Ability to respond calmly to emergency and crisis situations. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to demonstrate positive and appropriate interpersonal skills. Ability to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, Mandt certifications and other required trainings Ability to comply with Clients Rights, Mandatory Abuse & Neglect Reporting. Ability to comply with Valleys and Division departmental safety procedures. Ability to read, write and speak the English language. Ability to use E-Mail and document services in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience in Behavioral Health field, preferably substance use disorders. Knowledge of the disease of addiction. Recognize signs and symptoms of impending withdrawal from various drugs. Knowledge of early recovery issues. Knowledge of treatment and recovery resources including a working knowledge of 12-Step Fellowships. Ability to take and report vitals using technical equipment: Blood pressure, respirations, and pulse.
