Eaton's EPG CPD Circuit Protection Division division is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer in Moon Township, PA. The expected annual salary range for this role is $97499.97 - $142999.96 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. What you'll do: Primary function This position is responsible for developing, designing, and testing power electronic based circuit protection technology and products. The individual will work together with a diverse Advanced Technology team to support the associated mechanical systems and subsystems for circuit protection products to be used in both low voltage and medium voltage applications. The position interfaces with product line marketing and plant manufacturing teams, quality personnel, and customers. The position entails coordinating and executing new product development and innovation projects of all sizes from inception through validation and production implementation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Develop strong technical knowledge in power electronic based circuit breaker mechanical design, testing and applications. • Design and build prototypes where necessary and direct relevant testing in lab facilities. Understand and comply with site specific electrical test lab equipment and procedures, including health, safety and security aspects. • Utilize statistical quality tools to establish performance baselines, identify focus areas for robustness improvement and measure improvement in robustness and performance. • Leverage and drive component & system level modelling / simulation activities and initiate changes into existing and new component design. • Compile, study reconcile and approve product requirements and standards, and lead team-based product conceptual and detailed design, development, validation and documentation of product designs. Facilitate Prelaunch and PROLaunch stage-gate new product development system. • Work closely with manufacturing facility and key processes owners (assembly, welding, calibration, feeders, supply chain, etc.) to understand basic capabilities, and ensure a compatible design. • Develops product technical requirements by working together with marketing team and identify components for product designs. • Generate and execute test programs and test protocols to determine if design criteria for system, software and hardware are met. • Collaborates with teams from Eaton Research Lab, Electrical Sector Center of Excellence, and external technology resources (National Labs and Universities) for technology and product innovation. • Creates technical reports and presentations. • Generates value added intellectual property. • Mentors, assigns tasks and determines priority for project team members as needed. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution • Minimum 5 years of experience in new product designing, developing, testing and design optimization • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in magnetic actuation development, design, prototyping, and testing. • Strong experience with Pro-E/Creo or Solid Works. • Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Moon Township, PA facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation Preferred Qualifications: • Creative individual with patents and patent applications on solid state and hybrid circuit breaker. • Experience in utilizing test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DC/AC power supply, capacitor bank test system, and high-speed video cameras. • Strong understanding of switching mechanism, thermal and magnetics. • General knowledge of product design for cost-effective manufacture, industrial circuit breaker design, requirements, and applications. • Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members. • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering processes. • Experience with DFSS tools. #LI-JH2 We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
