Food Service Manager Dayton, Ohio @Orchard LLC has been retained by the Dayton parish of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, a national Christian charitable organization, to find an exceptional Food Service Store Manager to lead the program tasked with feeding the guests staying within the shelter program. Beyond the technical aspect of the role, our client is looking for someone who shares a commitment to serve and care for the unhoused community within the city and surrounding areas, providing shelter, employment, services, and necessities. The Food Service Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of all areas related to food preparation and storage. This includes planning and overseeing the preparation of three daily meals served to shelter guests. Training and supervising kitchen staff and volunteers assigned to work in the shelter kitchen. Being responsible for ensuring that kitchen staff and volunteers under supervision act in compliance with Department of Public Health guidelines for safe food handling and storage. Specific Responsibilities Include. * Ensure that breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals are prepared and ready for serving to shelter guests daily. * Prepare a weekly menu of food to be served at each meal. Integrate donated and pre-prepared foods with purchased supplemental foods, surplus, and leftover foods from previous meals. Ensure food is nutritionally sound. Monitor portion sizes to control food costs. * Accommodate special dietary needs of shelter guests as needed/requested. * Assist in food preparation as needed. * Monitor inventory, storage, and distribution of food and supplies. Closely monitor the receipt dates of donated foods to maximize the efficient and safe use of such foods within allowable time frames. * Purchase food, kitchen supplies, and equipment in coordination with the Director of Gateway Shelter Programs. * Maintain strict confidentiality and propriety in matters related to guests' information. * Train kitchen staff and volunteers on safe food preparation and presentation. * Maintain a clean and safe kitchen in compliance with standards set by Montgomery County Division of Environmental Health, Department of Public Health's Food Protection Program as applicable to food service providers, including sanitation standards, safe food temperatures, and food handling and storage guidelines. * Facilitate regular inspections by the Department of Public Health. * Ensure that the kitchen remains adequately supplied with necessary staple items and equipment. * Coordinate with other kitchen staff at all shift changes, sharing information regarding out-of-ordinary kitchen operations or special instructions. * Ensure the efficient operation of all areas related to food preparation and storage. Your background will include. * A degree or sufficient related experience and certifications in culinary arts, hospitality, or food service. * At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity within a restaurant or similar kitchen with a significant volume of service. * Prior charitable or non-profit experience either as an employee or volunteer is preferred, ideally including work within the provision of food services. * The ability to manage with empathy a diverse workforce, and interact with the entire community of customers, employees, vendors, and those served by the mission. * Experience with Microsoft Office and associated tools. * Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances, and to stand/walk for extended periods. * Willing to travel locally as necessary to retail operations, engage with neighboring St. Vincent de Paul operators, and attend the twice-annual national sales meeting of the St. Vincent deApply here:
