Possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, certification in a medical specialty by a Member Board of the ABMS, and one year of post-certification experience within the medical specialty. Duties Description The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) seeks a qualified candidate to serve as a Medical Director within the Bureau of Health Services. Specific duties to be performed may include, but are not limited to, the following: • Consult and support new BHS director during transition with activities but not limited to the following: • Support IC programs at all facilities. This includes policies and guidance, assisting with outbreak containment, and maintaining Joint Commission and CMS standards and reporting. • Active engagement with PCs and system ICNs for guidance related to COVID and other outbreaks. • Create written guidance based on the changing landscape of circulating pathogens. This also entails monitoring CDC information and collaboration with the NYS Department of Health. • Work with Facilities and ASSG for mitigation and containment of infection control risks. • Monitor and update immunization requirements for onboarding new staff. • Support the Med Specs with updating polices and guidance for both treatment of medical conditions and updating preventative health measures. • Assist with recruitment and retention. • Assist in credentialing of medical specialists. • Assist in developing referral sources for other specialty services. • Expand current collaboration with DOH and CEI program for screening and referral of all outpatients for Hepatitis C treatment. • Working with the Central Office Medical Directors establish metabolic monitoring process for all OMH outpatients on second generation antipsychotics. • Assist the Central Office Medical Directors with credentialing approval of Medical Specialists. • Continue project of establishing Low Dose CT Screening for Lung Cancer to PMH patients at risk by working with Roswell Park Eddy Program (mobile imaging).
