Job Description Position: Sr Manufacturing Manager / Senior Packaging Engineering Manager Location: Hoffman Estates, IL 60169 - hybrid - 3 days onsite / 2 remote Salary range $130 -$170K depending on experience I am looking for a dynamic Senior Manufacturing Manager or Senior Packaging Engineering Manager to lead manufacturing and packaging engineering teams in a highly regulated environment, such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or aerospace. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on engineering expertise, focusing on cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and the introduction of innovative manufacturing technologies. O verview of Responsibilities Leadership and Strategy: Provide operational leadership in developing and executing manufacturing strategies at the operational level. Direct the manufacturing and packaging engineering group's priorities for all engineering projects supporting operations. Project Oversight: Oversee planning and execution of all manufacturing and packaging engineering projects, including the installation and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) of new equipment. Ensure systems are designed for high reliability, efficiency, and flexibility. Cost Reduction and Efficiency: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to identify and implement cost reduction activities, including cycle time reductions and scrap minimization, packaging equipment automation. Evaluate cost reduction opportunities and drive efficiency improvements. Innovation Collaboration: Work closely with Product Engineering and Innovation teams on the development of new products for manufacturing. Lead the introduction of new manufacturing and packaging technologies to enhance production capabilities. Maintenance Collaboration: Partner with Maintenance Management to establish maintenance plans for manufacturing and packaging equipment, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability. Investigate and eliminate repetitive equipment failures and sources of contamination. Team Development: Lead and mentor the manufacturing and packaging engineering team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and quality. Provide engineering support to manufacturing and facility maintenance activities. Capital and Expense Management: Develop and manage the capital plan and expense requirements for manufacturing and packaging engineering, ensuring resource allocation aligns with strategic initiatives. Communication and Coordination: Communicate effectively with all operations departments, Project Engineering, Innovation, and Quality to ensure alignment and collaboration across the organization. Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to improving trends in labor efficiency, equipment utilization, and product quality. Routinely verify adherence to quality management system procedures. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; MBA preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing and automation environment, with a strong background managing resources in continuous manufacturing settings involving high-speed equipment. Expertise in high reliability system design, injection molding, robotics, and packaging equipment. Familiarity with basic PLC logic, controls, and hardware. Experience with inspection procedures and Statistical Process Control (SPC) analysis. Some proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software. Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple projects effectively.
