Our client, a well established manufacturer in the defense industry, is seeking a Senior Purchasing Manager to lead their team!Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a high-performing purchasing team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.Oversee day-to-day supply chain management activities, serving as the primary liaison between the purchasing team and senior leadership.Strategically select and manage suppliers based on capability, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and quality.Foster collaborative relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.Conduct complex cost and price analyses to ensure fair pricing.Ensure compliance with GovernmentCustomer requirements and maintain accredited Cost Estimating and Purchasing Systems.Analyze and communicate cost and supplier data in a Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) environment.Drive team performance through effective resource management and leadership.Promote high standards and expectations within the team.Conduct benchmarking studies to identify best practices.Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify improvement opportunities.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless purchasing integration.Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure value capture initiatives.Lead or support strategic business case development.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent.Professional certifications (CPSMCPM, MBA) preferred.5+ years of militarygovernment purchasing experience required.5+ years of managerial and employee development experience.Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams.Demonstrated expertise in purchasing, commodity management, and strategic sourcing.Strong analytical, negotiating, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.Technical understanding of main vehicle components.Self-motivated, results-driven, and adaptable.This is a hybrid role based in the South Bend area. Base compensation is 125k-145k annually.
