The Department of Labor & Industry is looking for independent and highly motivated individuals to travel throughout an assigned territory within Pennsylvania and help a wide-range of employers and businesses comply with PA Unemployment Compensation (UC) law. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a UC Tax Agent, you will communicate with employers and businesses to provide information regarding all necessary requirements that must be fulfilled under PA UC law. You will also examine financial records and investigate issues to confirm compliance, and identify errors and fraudulent activity. Each case is unique and offers an abundance of new learning opportunities. Should an employer or their representative disagree with the tax agent's determination, the agent must communicate the audit findings with the employer and explain the assessment process and appeal rights. If an assessment is necessary, the agent will initiate an assessment using the appropriate department policies and procedures. If an assessment is appealed, the UC Tax Agent may be required to testify at a hearing with the UC Tax Review Office or other courts. The UC Tax Agent positions are home-headquartered and spend a mix of their time traveling, working at home, and working on-site with employers and businesses throughout their assigned geographic territory. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time, home-headquartered employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Alternate work schedule may be available. Frequent travel throughout assigned territory in Pennsylvania is required. Travel expenses will be paid. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 18 college credits in finance and accounting, of which at least 6 college credits are in accounting; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 18 college credits in finance and accounting, of which at least 6 college credits are in accounting. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits. Other Requirements: This particular position also requires possession of an active Pennsylvania driver's license which is not under suspension. You must meet the PA residency requirement.
