Systems Engineer, Airborne Rocket Vehicle (ARV) Aevum is seeking a Systems Engineer to take system-level ownership of the development of one of our liquid, airborne rocket vehicles. As a systems engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, test, production, and operations of your assigned ARV. You will perform system level design, analysis, and testing. The ideal candidate brings strong demonstrated success certifying flight vehicles through structured aerospace systems engineering processes and activities. The finished ARV will ultimately be used by the US Government in defense applications. You're objective and can create technical documentation that prioritize accuracy and fine details. You're a quick study and can relate large, complicated data to draw out information and take actions that ultimately lead to the successful flight of your ARV. Aevum's development timelines are aggressive and you'll be asked to work hard, including nights and weekends and long hours, as necessary Responsibilities Design, develop, and fly your assigned aerospace vehicle. Work closely within a multidisciplinary engineering team to identify and solve complex system level challenges. Develop and manage vehicle mass properties Working with your assigned program and/or project manager to meet programmatic schedule requirements. Create detailed technical documentation for your system. Contribute to other technical documentation, as requested. Perform failure analyses and manage both technical and safety specifications. Decompose parent requirements to meet project needs. Learn, develop, and execute Aevum's systems engineering process, including configuration management, change control, and risk management. Participate in engineering review board meetings as requested. Support launch operations development and execution as requested by the space launch team. Present and report complicated, technical topics to senior executives effectively. Participate and contribute to formal customer reviews, internally and externally. Perform other duties as assigned TRAVEL BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field 5+ years of systems engineering experience Prior experience working with space systems, launch vehicles, spacecraft, or hardware/software technical projects Demonstrated ability to be trusted with confidential, classified, proprietary, or export-controlled information/data Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong experience working with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and a complex set of requirements Detail-oriented Highly professional, especially under pressure PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master degree in systems engineering or other technical field 3+ years of experience leading structured systems engineering in an aerospace program Prior experience performing on government contracts ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS As needed, must be willing to work extended hours and weekends to ensure that customers are properly supported and missions are on-time.
