JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Lead Compounder FLSA Status: Exempt Non-Exempt X Department: Compounding Manager's Title: Compounding Manager Basic Responsibilities: Undergo OSHA Haz Com Training. Undergo RCRA hazardous waste handling, SPCC & SWPPP training. Undergo GMP training and follow applicable SOP's. Maintain good housekeeping in both compounding I & II, pre-weigh & chemical storage area. Know and observe all safety requirements. Understand and be able to use safety equipment. Operate forklift truck as a certified driver. Respond to and clean up incidental spills in accordance with local, state & federal regulations. Make sure all chemical containers are returned to inventory properly marked with part numbers, dates and remaining weights. Minimize & control waste at every part of the process within compounding Know how to use small hand tools. Essential Responsibilities: Maintain acute knowledge of batching, C&S and other compounding activities including packaging line requirements for bulk liquid at any given time. Full understanding of Work Orders & batching instructions - be able to identify any errors or problems. Interact with the analytical lab for smooth transfer of batch samples and test results. Prepare personal product & OTC batches as needed. Be able to open and close Compounding department for daily and long weekend shutdowns. Train new hires on the SOPs, equipment & processes. Direct the daily work of other compounders. Co-ordinate cleaning & sanitization of compounding equipment & packaging lines. Participate in test run batches with customers. Be able to take daily bulk tank farm inventory and prepare reports. Participate in other duties as may be assigned by the department supervisor or manager. Must complete all necessary paperwork as established for the batch being processed or job being performed. Act as a backup for any individual within compounding department on a short term basis. Fill in for the Compounding Supervisor for vacation coverage etc., on a short term basis. Participate in long term compounding capacity planning activities. Help compounding supervisor with performance review & planning process for other compounding personnel. Help compounding supervisor with vacation planning activities for all non-exempt personnel. Accountabilities: Compounding lead person must thoroughly and efficiently perform his responsibilities so that good quality batches are completed in a timely fashion to support production demand without interruption and with minimum waste. Qualification Standards: High school graduate. Legible penmanship. Ability to communicate with fellow personnel. Must be trained on all relevant SOP's Ability to read, write and understand English and have basic arithmetic skills (proficiency test required) with ability to do unit conversion. Expert knowledge of pumps, filters, and hoses. Expert knowledge of all functions performed by compounders, compounding warehouse person, tank farm operators and pre-weigh operators. Expert knowledge of cleaning & sanitization process for batching tanks & related equipment throughout compounding and packaging lines.
