Yes County Albany Street Address Division of Hospitals and Diagnostic & Treatment Centers/Capital District Regional Office 875 Central Avenue City Albany State NY Zip Code 12206 Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current NYS Department of Health employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service as a Health Care Surveyor 3 (Nursing), G23 Non-Competitive Candidates: Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and three years of post-licensure, specialized professional administrative or professional clinical experience.Substitution: A bachelor's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master's degree in nursing may substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience. Preferred Qualifications: Professional experience as an RN in an acute care setting and familiar with the hospital surveillance process and State and Federal Laws and Regulations. The candidate must be highly motivated, possess excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to function independently and work as a member of a team, prioritize and address multiple tasks and responsibilities; scheduling expertise. Must have a strong knowledge of databases and be computer literate. In addition, the ideal candidate must have excellent writing and editing skills and be able to effectively interpret laws and regulations governing health care facilities and health care providers in New York State. Duties Description The HCS 3 will lead, conduct and participate in federal and/or state surveillance activities at hospitals, dialysis facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, clinics and other acute care settings facilities in the Capital District to determine compliance with federal and state regulations. The HCS 3 is responsible for preparing Statements of Deficiency using Principles of Documentation and reviewing and approving Plans of Correction within required timeframes. The HCS 3 will also review facilitiy policy and procedures for Certificate of Need and conduct onsite pre-opening surveys for licensure. Additional Comments Non-competitive appointment via the HELP program. Posted salary range includes the statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for PS&T Grade 22 ($90,464 to $101,197), plus an additional geographic pay differential of $20,000.This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.
