Job Description We are seeking an early career Mechanical Engineer to support our EO/IR seeker and precision munitions products and related technologies. If selected you will be part of the Hardware Team supporting the Precision Guidance and Sensing Solutions product line, a major component of the growing Precision Strike Business Area. Key Responsibilities: Design packaging and test equipment for optical sensing systems, GPS receivers, IR cameras, and associated electronics for use in typical military environments, including high speed missile and projectile flight. Support hands-on build and test activities for test assets, test equipment, and flight hardware Read, understand, and abide by Statement of Work (SoW) and requirements documents. Be adaptable in supporting one to several projects in different design stages. Understand and communicate shifting prioritization between those projects. Work collaboratively and respectfully with others on a small team. Be conscious of schedule and budget constraints, work within them, and elevate concerns to lead technical personnel if challenges arise. Provide technical oversight and direction to Design Drafting resources supporting your program. Perform informal trade studies to optimize designs. Collaborate with external suppliers, as needed, to meet program technical requirements. Perform elementary structural and thermal analyses using classical and finite element methods, knowing when to seek assistance from advanced analysis group. Document and present design/build/test artifacts to internal and external customers, as part of informal peer or formal design reviews. Because of its mixed collaborative and independent nature, this role is a Hybrid position, meaning at least 50% of time is spent on-site at our facility in Hudson, NH. Required Education, Experience, & Skills Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Minimum of two years of relevant experience in related industry (i.e. defense, electronics) or a Master s Degree Proficiency with PTC Creo or equivalent CAD software, including model/drawing creation and change order management Knowledge of and experience in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5 Experience with ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS ICEPAK, Siemens Simcenter 3D, or other mechanical analysis software for performing simple/low complexity structural and thermal analyses Basic knowledge of common MIL and industry specs and standards Experience with the design and manufacture of precision mechanical parts and assemblies Eligibility to obtain a DoD Security Clearance at the Secret level Clear communication both oral and written and a positive attitude Ability to work effectively on a team or solo either on-site or remotely Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Master s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Proficient with Siemens NX CAD software Experience with mechanical tolerance stackup calculations/studies Experience with the design and manufacture of electronic circuit card assemblies Hands-on experience with thermal, vibration, and shock environmental testing per MIL-STD-810 Experience with guided and unguided munitions and cannons, including support of test events at customer sites Experience with explicit structural dynamics simulation for high g shock events Experience with Model-based Definition, fully-annotated models Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $75570 - $128480 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
