Job Summary:The Director, Valuation & Capital Markets Analytics - Complex Financial Instruments is responsible for leading, executing, and the delivery of challenging valuation engagements by participating in all aspects of projects, from the initial proposal preparation through project completion. This role is actively engaged in the management of valuation assignments and managing staff in the development of such assignments. In addition, this role will be charged with assisting with business development activities and appraisal reviews.Job Duties:Executes office business development plan in conjunction with the Valuation teamBuilds relationships with key executives and stakeholders in support of the growth of the office business lines and industriesLeads and manages the valuation services related to a variety of complex financial instruments for financial reporting, tax, strategic planning, and other business purposesOversees client engagement from beginning to end, including but not limited to project set up and other administrative items, management of team members, communications, and presentations with the client Critically reviews model functionality, evaluates, and documents the methodology employed, assumptions used, and conclusions reachedEnsures quality controls and risk management procedures are adhered to in association with all client communication and work productsParticipates in internal and external client meetingsOther duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibilities:Supervises the day-to-day workload of VCMA Staff on assigned engagements and reviews work productEnsures VCMA Staff are trained on all relevant valuation databases and models.Evaluates the performance of VCMA Staff and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional developmentDelivers periodic performance feedback and completes performance evaluations for VCMA StaffActs as Career Advisor to VCMA Staff, as appropriateQualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Education:Bachelor's degree, required; focus in Finance, Financial Engineering, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, preferredMaster's in Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, preferredExperience:Experience with valuation of complex financial instruments (complex securities) or derivatives, requiredExperience in financial reporting valuation and appraisal review, requiredEight (8) or more years of experience within an accounting firms, independent advisory firm, bank, or other financial services firm, preferredExperience in business valuation and intangible assets, preferredExperience with earnouts, convertible debt, warrants, Total Shareholder Return (TSR) and Employee Stock Option (ESO) grants, private company equity securities, hybrid instruments, or structured products, preferredLicense/Certifications:CFA, FRM, QRM, ASA or other valuation industry credentials, preferredSoftware:Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, requiredPrior experience with Capital IQ and Bloomberg, preferredPrior experience with Macro/VBA, R, Python, Intex, Moody's Analytics, and other industry software, preferredOther Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Superior verbal and written communication skillsSuperior analytical and research skillsSolid organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on detailsAbility to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environmentAbility to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to effectively manage a team of valuation professionals and delegate work assignments as neededCapacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnelAbility to encourage team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnelExecutive presence and ability to act as primary contact on assigned engagementsAbility to successfully interact with professionals at all levelsAbility for intermittent travel within the US and internationally requiredIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.National Range: $210,000 - $250,000NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $210,000 - $250,000Join us at BDO, where you will find more than a career, you'll find a place where your work is impactful, and you are valued for your individuality.
