Construction Cost EstimatorBrockwell & Carrington Contractors, Inc. is seeking a full-time Construction Estimator with 5+ years' experience in the public work sector. The Construction Estimators must demonstrate a serious interest in conceptual, as well as plan and specification review for building and renovation construction projects ranging from $10 to $75 million dollars.Estimators will be responsible for the entire estimating process, including, but not limited to:· Reviewing construction documents (plans, specification, and addenda) in order to gain a deep understanding of the project requirements.· Create detailed cost estimate based on project scope.· Obtain and review proposals for subcontracted work in order to perform final compilation of bid costs.· Perform and organize material and equipment takeoffs for project pricing purposes, and to best prepare for review of subcontractor proposals during bid process.· Preparation of bid package documents.· Review bid advertisements in order to assist with and generate company bid schedule.· Prepare invitation to bid for subcontractor participation.· Solicit subcontractors to partake in bidding process for work not performed "in-house".· Perform bid negotiations in order to obtain best pricing to competitively pursue projects.· Finalization of project scope and perform post-bid negotiations and project buy-out following successful bid awards.· Aid project management team during change order process, both with Owner submitted and internal change orders. Estimating will review base scope versus modification to the documents then help compile and review pricing of these modifications.Candidates for the Construction Estimator position should possess the desired skills and experience as indicated below:· A minimum of 5+ years working in construction estimating with an established and verifiable track record of accuracy, efficiency, and profitability. GC and public work sector experience a strong +.· Complete proficiency in reading and understand projectbid documents (drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid forms).· Trained knowledge of building structure, civil, and MEP systems, as well as general building codes, various building types, and general "means and methods" of construction.· Well versed understanding of CPMProject scheduling.· Ability to generate a conceptual building construction estimate, categorized in accordance with CSI trade divisions.· Strong computer skills are necessary, as is a proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Construction estimatebid spreadsheet to be generated in Excel and reviewed by Ownership during bid process.· Excellent written and verbal communication presentation skills are a must.· Ability to negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers both for competitive pricing as well as work scope detail.· Must have familiarity with construction contracts.· Applicant must be a detail oriented, organized, self-starter with good multi-tasking abilities and a keen sense of urgency in their approach to a precise and time sensitive bidding environment.Misc.
