The SR SMART GRID ENGINNER provides technical engineering, design, economic and analytical support to participate in the development of long-range system plans and conducting of engineering requests, proposals, and presentations and performs engineering tasks requiring skills and experience gained through application of engineering methods and analysis.Type: DirectPermanent HireSalary: $105k - $125kAnnual + Annual Bonus of 8-16% of salaryLocation: Hybrid - Phoenix, AZ (Relocation assistance available)Benefits: Pension, Medical, Dental and Vision Benefits, 401k Match, and more!Major AccountabilitiesProvides technical engineering, design, economic and analytical support to participate in the development of long-range system plans and conducting of engineering requests, proposals, and presentations.Performs engineering tasks requiring skills and experience gained through application of engineering methods and analysis. Has increasing responsibility for technical decisions and interpretations.Provides technical guidance and leadership to others as needed.Responsible for developing and managing the programmatic aspects for smart grid innovation initiatives and projects, including budget oversight, project work plan implementation, key success indicator tracking and reporting, internal communications, training preparation and coordination, advanced technical assessments, and key documentationMinimum RequirementsFamiliarity with reliability andor power quality technology, i.e. voltage regulators, capacitor banks, line sensors, reclosers supervisory switches, dynamic VAR control, controlrelay panels for various substation devices, and other SCADA controlled devicesStrong R&D, analytical, and communication skills with demonstrated ability to think strategically, innovate, stay current with industry trends and developments, and align technology solutions to technical business requirements for successful selection and execution of technology demonstration pilots.Advanced or technical degree or certificate in areas such as: Electrical Engineering Technology, Technology Innovation, Power Systems Automation, SCADA systems, network communications engineering & technology, construction project management, technology project managementWorking knowledge any of the following: load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, state estimation, load management, distribution operationsExperience with software and systems such as Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), CYME and similar power engineering software, OSI PI Data Historian, IBM Maximo, PowerBase, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA), and DNP3 andor Cellular network protocolsTraining and assisting with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of automation andor protection systems.Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods, and safety standards in electrical and power systems engineering.Professional Engineer licensure preferred Special Skills, Knowledge, or Qualifications:Problem analysisresolution techniques.Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods, and safety standards in the area of applicable engineering discipline.Professional Engineer licensure preferred.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Understanding of the application of control theory for electric grid operation & automationExperience with creating settings, message layouts, andor control templates for distribution, substation, andor transmission equipment controllersFamiliarity with reliability andor power quality technology, i.e. voltage regulators, capacitor banks, line sensors, reclosers supervisory switches, grid edge dynamic VAR control apparatuses, controlrelay panels for various substation devices, and other SCADA controlled devicesWorking knowledge of load management, distribution operations, and Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS)Training and assisting with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of automation andor protection systems.Mentor and develop professional staff.Experience with Power Base, CYME, SEL AcSelerator, CAPE, and ADMS.Knowledge on performing short circuit analysis, coordination studies and load flow.Minimum QualificationsEngineer IIIBachelor degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution or an ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) plus five (5) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.Approved Engineer degrees: Materials ScienceMetallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Math, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Environmental, Chemical, Architectural, Structural.Engineer SeniorBachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution plus eight (8) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.Approved degrees: Materials ScienceMetallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Math, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Environmental, Chemical, Architectural, Structural.
