Select how often (in days) to receive an alert: JOIN OUR TALENT NETWORK Communication Signal Processing Research Engineer (Technical Staff) Apply now Date: Oct 15, 2024 Location: Lexington, MA, US Company: MIT Lincoln Laboratory The Tactical Edge Communications Group develops and demonstrates new algorithms, architectures, and hardware implementations for processing signals for a broad range of RF system applications, including advanced wireless communications and signals intelligence. The group's core competencies include developing algorithms and system concepts for communication, signal detection, localization, and classification in challenging environments, as well as hardware implementations and prototypes of these advanced RF systems. The group has expertise in adaptive antenna array processing, signal detection and estimation,statistical inference, pattern recognition, multichannel communications, wideband sampling techniques, antenna and RF subsystem design, and systems analysis. The group is applying machine learning techniques to spectrum operations problems.The group is also interested in exploring methods for (distributed) control and monitoring of networked control systems, with applications specific to RF communication systems. The staff members have advanced degrees in electrical engineering, physics, and applied mathematics. To support concept development and evaluation, the group conducts a significant amount of field tests and data collection campaigns, and collaborates with other groups within the division and throughout the Laboratory in real-time prototype implementation, experiment execution, and systems analysis. Job Description: The Group is seeking a candidate for a Communication Signal Processing Research Engineering role. The individual will develop technologies for next generation advanced communication systems. Assignments will involve communication system research, analysis, and simulation of modulation, coding, machine learning, and link layer algorithms as they apply to unique military communication challenges.General skills of interest include background in statistical inference, numerical linear algebra and optimization methods, data processing and analysis, and scientific computing. Technical challenges include opportunities to design and explore approaches for signal estimation algorithms and data analysis techniques. Qualifications: PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or similar field. In lieu of a PhD, an MS in the above areas with a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience will be considered. Experience with communication and information theory is desirable. Equally open to applicants with a demonstrated background in a relevant technical area, such as mathematics, computer science, and/or physics, who have a strong interest and motivation to apply their skills to problems in communications.
