Position Description: The Medical College of Wisconsin's Department of Radiology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to be the Manager for the Advanced Practice Providers (APP's). The APP Manager will work as part of a multidisciplinary health care team, providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for the patients of the blended services as a member of the Department of Radiology. In addition to direct patient care, the Manager of NP/PA's will provide supervision and coordination of Advanced Practice Providers within the Department of Radiology and implement policies & procedures to maximize efficiency for the program and the Advanced Practice Provider model. Coordinate and supervise the recruitment, training, and evaluation of Advance Practice Providers within the Department of Radiology. Participate in departmental activities as a liaison for Advanced Practice Providers as necessary and represent the Department of Radiology to the Office of Advanced Practice within MCW. The Ideal Candidate will be an experienced APP with a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and ensure an environment of safe and quality care, wanting to be part of a thriving and very collaborative academic practice at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Areas of responsibility will include, but not be limited to providing direct patient care to an adult patient population in a blended setting. In this role you will : Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring image guided intervention in blended environment as a member of the Department of Radiology (Advanced Radiology Procedures and Vascular & Interventional Radiology services). Writes accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders. Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicate and document information. Privileged to perform procedures beyond core as identified by the Department of Radiology. Facilitates and communicates with patients, family, and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care. Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileged institution, CMS, and the Joint Commission. Evaluates quality outcomes for patients receiving care of this team through participation in developing quality indicators and outcomes dashboard. Acquires information on the most current research and clinical trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature. Acts as a resource for credentialing and privileging and a Liaison with the medical staff offices of each location. Core Advanced Practice Responsibilities Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial status. Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information Write accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders Develop pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans. Monitor effectiveness of plan of care Educate patients on disease and treatment plans. Perform procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed. Document within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents. Collaborate and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate. Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors. Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Joint Commission. Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature. Core Administrative/Leadership Responsibilities: Approximately 40 % effort for managerial role & maintain 60% effort clinical role. Acts as the primary blended APP liaison and serves as a consultant between the APPs and Attending Physicians and Nursing Directors to ensure patient care needs are met. Assists Department Administrator with recruitment activities, such as job description development, resume screening and interviewing. Facilitates onboarding and coordinates precepting of new APP hires functioning in blended setting and serves as the primary resource for the discussion of roles, expectations, and APP care models with new hires/recruits. Performs the APP performance evaluation process, (EMERGE). Assists with performance improvement plans, as needed. Mentors and provides necessary support for professional development by acting as liaison to professional growth opportunities and activities, and/or coordinating profession specific venues for learning. Facilitates blended APP scheduling process, including vacation/CME request approvals, call schedules and daily departmental coverage. Provides the schedule in a timely basis. Enters, updates, and approved timecards for APPs. Works with Department leadership to ensure adequate personnel to cover high census periods, as needed. Manages open encounters to assure timely closure of encounter. Acts as a resource for the blended APP group related to community activities, professional organizations, marketing, and public-speaking forums to educate others about APP and specialty specific topics. Promotes accountability and professionalism within the practice. Serves as the key representative of the Department of Radiology to the Office of Advanced Practice. Serve as a key representative on the Departmental or institutional committees for APP practice and professional development.Promotes accountability and professionalism within the practice. Facilitates the standardization and/or revision of practice protocols and therapies, policies, and processes related to the APP role. Promotes development of research-related activities including conducting or participating in studies. Preferred Schedule: Position Requirements: Preferred Experience: Five years' experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse preferred with at least 1 - 2 years working in a clinic or hospital environment. Supervisory, leadership or administrative experience is also preferred.
