SUMMARY: The Vice President of Finance will oversee the financial operations of Chapman Partnership, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance in all accounting and financial functions. As a hands-on leader, the VP of Finance will manage the day-to-day finance and accounting functions while providing high-level financial oversight and strategic guidance. This role will be more operational than strategic, focusing on maintaining strong financial controls, optimizing processes, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. The VP will lead the finance team, including the Accounting Manager, Staff Accountants, and Payroll, and will be a key partner in supporting the financial health and operational effectiveness of the organization. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead all financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting to ensure the organization's financial stability. Oversee financial reporting, manage banking relationships, cash flow, and investments, while identifying and mitigating risks across finance and asset protection. Lead the management of commercial insurance, health insurance, 401(k), and investments, ensuring comprehensive, cost-effective coverage and optimal employee benefits. Communicate financial performance and strategy to the board of directors, investors, and other stakeholders. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in financial operations, internal controls, and reporting systems. Utilize knowledge of non-profit financial management, including government funding and affordable housing initiatives, to support the organization's mission and goals. Ensure compliance with financial reporting, tax filings, and audits, overseeing external audits and collaborating with auditors to address findings and implement corrective actions. Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations for decision-making, offering comprehensive financial reports to the CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leadership team. Direct and coordinate the operating and capital budget process, preparing strategic and long-term budgets as required by the President/CEO and the Board of Trustees. Monitor performance against budget, providing updates to the CEO and Board, while developing financial forecasting models to support long-term planning and decision-making. Lead the Finance Audit Committees and Investment Committee offering strategic financial guidance and support. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a supervisory position. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 12 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 5 years in an executive role. Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; a Master's degree preferred. CPA required. Experience with KPIs, metrics, dashboards, data quality assurance, analytics, and process improvement. Exceptional judgment and discretion in interacting with leadership and external parties. Experience working with accounting management software/systems required. Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience working with online banking, accounting, audit firm requests, submittals, and cloud-based software/access/websites required. Strong business savvy and ability to build trust with external businesses and stakeholders. Knowledge of government funding, grant compliance, and affordable housing initiatives. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Proven leadership experience at the C-level and/or Board level required. Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a track record of translating vision into actionable plans. Deep financial acumen and analytical abilities, with a comprehensive understanding of financial principles and practices. Strong leadership and management skills, with experience building and leading high-performing teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Outstanding oral and written communication skills and presentation skills. Strong business acumen and use of business analytics to prioritize, lead, and influence. Exceptional time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
