Vascular Access Registered Nurse The Vascular Access Registered Nurse inserts PICCs, Midlines, and Ultrasound Guided IV's with difficult IV access. Provides clinical support to all providers, the clinical staff and patients at CMC. Collaborates with health team members in coordinating and implementing procedures. Roles and Responsibilities: Perform standard nursing assessment on all patients requiring vascular access Consult, assessment, and insertion of vascular access devices *Collaborative team approach Participate in training staff Works independently Utilizes the nursing process for the care of patients Required Skills and Experience: Education: Associates of applied science of nursing from accredited institution. Experience: Minimum of 1-year med/surg nursing experience. Licensure: NYS registration to preform duties of a registered nurse. 1 year experience vascular access required Preferred Skills and Experience: VAT consults Assess the need for IV assessment, products and procedures Review of patient chart Conduct patient interview Physical Requirements: Physical Requirements: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, unit-dose cassettes, and IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) is often necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
