JOB SUMMARY The Project Manager is accountable for the overall performance of assigned projects and is responsible for the managing, directing and reporting of all activities relevant to engineering and industrial construction, from design through closing. The Project Manager should provide leadership, ensuring that engineering, budget, schedules, safety, quality standards, customer satisfaction, trade partner effectiveness and maximum profitability are maintained throughout the Project. It is expected that the Project Manager will manage multiple projects at one time. It is also expected that the Project Manager has substantial Construction Management experience and can serve as the Construction Manager on projects that they are assigned. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Project Management Directly manage capital projects to include planning, schedule development, scope preparation, budget development, risk management, staffing, design, procurement, installation, start-up, and project turnover. Ensure that capital projects are planned and executed according to the project model and handbook. Establish and lead effective cross functional project teams. Collaborate with line of business user groups to assure that user requirements are effectively transformed into project solutions. Establish effective means and methods for handling risk management, change management and stakeholder relations. Supervise and coordinate the use of external engineering firms, consultants, suppliers and contractors required for project activities and assure their work conforms to project requirements. Collaborate with NZ Project Sourcing department to obtain the most cost effective project solution that meets user requirements. Closely follow-up on project performance to assure control of quality, budget, schedule and safety and take pro-active corrective actions when required. Prepare regular oral and written reports of capital project progress and status. Maintain the appropriate flow of information and communication to project steering committees and other Stakeholders Collaborate with NZ Supply Engineering on a regional level for capital project administration, development and execution. Ensure that all project activities comply with corporate and local purchasing policies for the procurement of goods and services. Support the Environmental policy and EQS; assure that the environmental impact of changes to processes, equipment and materials is assessed prior to implementation. Perform job duties in a manner that supports GMP, Safety, ZEAL and Quality policies and processes. Ensure Installation documentation (as build drawings and Equipment documentation) is updated at Hand over of Project. Provide site wide notification of any road closures or heavy equipment onsite (i.e. cranes) that would impede normal operations. Construction Management Create and manage a construction schedule and report job progress to the team at regular intervals Develop construction scope of work and conduct project walk down with bidding contractors. Schedule and coordinate activities between multiple contractors Field monitoring of daily progress to ensure adherence to design, construction schedule, quality and safety compliance. Complete each project on schedule ensuring that all contract obligations are satisfied Coordinate with external design team(s) on all design related issues Communicate and coordinate schedules with all team members on a daily basis Verify that final sign-off and inspections are completed and passed by the appropriate jurisdictional inspectors and officials Monitor quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with safety, quality and GMP policies. Ensure team is notified of any issues and steps taken to resolve. Serve as Project construction safety coordinator for all projects assigned Maintain records of all changes including purchase orders, change orders and/or work orders Maintain a safe work site by implementing good housekeeping regulations and safety requirements, enforcing safe work habits and overseeing OSHA and any state-level agency regulations Create productive working relationship with contractor crews and create an environment where quality is paramount and problems are solved quickly. Find solutions to and resolve issues related to daily construction activities Conduct detailed inspections after each trade has completed its tasks and before any work is authorized for payment Communicate to relevant internal parties when payment for completed works can be processed. Other Support Ensure contractors are maintaining an as-built copy of redlines for the duration of the project Assist with Statement of Work creation as needed Assist with service bid reviews as needed Constructability / Pre-constructability design reviews as needed Duration: 6 month contract Location: Salem, VA Hours: 40 hours per week, M-F Please apply directly with your updated resume to be considered.
