IRS Collection Specialist Location: Hackensack, NJ 100% On Site Role Company Overview: New Gig Solutions has partnered with a leading tax resolution law firm with a mission to provide exceptional service to individuals and businesses navigating the complexities of tax compliance and resolution. The team is comprised of experienced professionals dedicated to helping clients resolve their tax issues with the IRS and state tax authorities. Position Summary: Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented IRS Collection Specialist to join the team. This role will focus primarily on IRS collection work, including negotiating payment plans, Offers in Compromise, and other resolutions for clients facing outstanding tax liabilities. This position does not require a law degree but requires in-depth knowledge of IRS collection procedures, strong communication skills, and experience working with clients on tax resolution matters. Key Responsibilities: Assist clients in resolving IRS collections matters, including setting up installment agreements, securing Offers in Compromise, and handling Currently Not Collectible cases. Communicate with the IRS on behalf of clients to negotiate and secure favorable resolutions. Review client tax documentation, financial records, and other relevant information to prepare and file necessary forms and responses to the IRS. Advise clients on the potential outcomes of their cases and provide options for resolution. Develop strategies to minimize clients' liabilities and protect their assets during the collection process. Stay up-to-date with IRS collection procedures, regulations, and best practices. Collaborate with the tax controversy team on cases that may require additional support or transition to another department. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; relevant experience will also be considered. 2+ years of experience in IRS collections or tax resolution. In-depth knowledge of IRS collection processes, including installment agreements, Offers in Compromise, and Currently Not Collectible status. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in tax research tools and tax resolution software. High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
