Location: Binghamton, NY Category: Professional Posted On: Tue Aug Job Description: Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4) Salary: $65,000 As the Director of Admissions for the Department of Public Administration and Policy (DPAP) in the College of Community and Public Affairs (CCPA), the candidate will oversee and implement all aspects of the recruitment plan and admissions processes. This will require, among other duties, consistent engagement with prospective students while documenting the progression from when students inquire about becoming students in the department to when they have applied and been enrolled in the appropriate program. Weekend and evening work will occasionally be required. Job duties include: Develop and facilitate recruitment events and initiatives to increase interest in the department's programs. These events include alumni panels, information sessions, and presentations on volunteer opportunities in public service, among others. Refine, implement, and execute a strategic recruitment plan with measurable goals for all departmental programs, including certificates, dual/double degrees and 4+1 programs. Engage with all prospective students to explore program requirements and guide them through the admissions process. Collaborate with the CCPA Dean's Office, Office of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions, Office of Exclusively Online Education, and Office of Communications and Marketing to develop, maintain, and refine as needed the DPAP website, all Graduate and Online SLATE Communications, and promotion materials (both print and electronic). Collaborate with DPAP faculty, staff, and CCPA's Assistant Dean to develop and implement strategic initiatives to boost DPAP enrollment. This could include creating new 4+1 and dual degree programs, establishing articulation agreements with community colleges, and developing pathways with undergraduate admissions. Serve as DPAP's representative on the CCPA Enrollment & Recruitment committee. Manage all admissions processes, including tracking, reviewing, and decisioning all student applications. Plan and implement outreach efforts to accepted students to maximize yield and deposited students to minimize melt. Manage funding selection and appointment processes (i.e., graduate assistantships and scholarships). Oversee departmental social media accounts. Assist with departmental NASPAA accreditation efforts, new student orientations, and alumni database maintenance. Job Requirements: MPA or related master's degree from an accredited institution Strong organizational skills and problem-solving abilities Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as a team Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Ability to work effectively with diverse populations Preferred: Experience in higher education graduate student recruitment, admissions, and/or public sector/nonprofit organizations Expertise and demonstrated success with strategic recruitment management tools and techniques Experience with online social media content creation in a professional setting Visa sponsorship is not available for this position Additional Information: Offers of employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check and verification of degree(s) and credentials.
