About the Job This position is for a Project Engineer located in the Washington, D.C., area to lead programs involving hyperspectral imaging. The project engineer's responsibilities include overseeing the technical aspects of a contract or program. They will take charge of daily execution, ensuring that cost, schedule, and technical requirements are maintained to deliver products and services to the customer. This person should possess a broad skill set encompassing hardware and software integration, systems engineering, and test. Furthermore, they must have excellent organizational and communication abilities, allowing them to interact effectively with all stakeholders throughout the program's lifecycle. Duties and Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day activities of the product development team, liaise with partners, and ensure our solution aligns to the broader problem set, within cost and schedule constraints. Deliver artifacts and customer requirements on time and under budget. Facilitate the verification of customer requirements through integration and test. Work hand in hand with the Program Manager to ensure a strong symbiotic relationship is maintained. Provide technical insight and recommendations to the Program Manager and Engineering senior leadership. Brief the customer at periodic events and technical interchange meetings. Manage using agile methodologies and sprint-based best practices. Review and approve engineering artifacts across all engineering disciplines. Participates in larger Engineering organizational processes and technical standards. Develop Basis-of-Estimates (BOEs) for proposals as needed. Conduct root cause investigations and provide recommendations for preventative measures. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or another related STEM field (will consider years of related experience in lieu of degree). 5+ years of experience in defense/DOD. Experience with signal processing. Experience with hyperspectral imaging. Experience in requirements development, integration and test, and customer buy-off. Experience integrating HW and SW systems in a lab setting and in the field. Experience collecting requirements and providing a ROM on proposals and projects. Proven experience in engineering project management: project plans, schedules, technical task estimations, resource estimations, risk assessment, CDRL deliverables, compliance to company processes. Strong technical knowledge and proficiency in relevant software tools: requirement analysis tools, CI/CD pipelines, Agile management tools, and test management tools. Knowledge of safety regulations and quality control procedures. Familiarity of Open Architecture Standards (e.g. FACE, OMS) Knowledge of modeling methodologies (e.g. SysML, UML, DoDAF). Familiar with hardware interfaces (e.g. 1553, serial). Familiar with software interfaces (e.g. STANAG 4586, FACE TSS, OMS CAL). Familiar with configuring networks (e.g. VLANs, SDN).
