Overview The City of Boston has played a role in causing and perpetuating the inequities in our society. To break down these barriers, we are embedding equity and inclusion into everything we do. We define equity as ensuring every community has the resources it needs to thrive in Boston. This requires the active process of meeting individuals where they are. Inclusion is engaging every resident to build a more welcoming and supportive city. We are building a city for everyone , where diversity makes us a more empowered collective. Our Cabinet is comprised of 8 departments who work intersectionally to meet this mission. Those departments in the cabinet include: Black Male Advancement, Disabilities Commission, Fair Housing, Human Rights Commission, Immigrant Advancement, Language and Communications Access, LGBTQ+ Advancement and Women's Advancement. Key Duties and Responsibilities The mission of the Equity and Inclusion Cabinet is to Improve social determinants of health for Bostonians, centering racial justice and the historically excluded constituencies we represent. We do so by transforming how we design and fund policies, programs, and practices as a City by providing Equity and Inclusion services to other city agencies, and building coalitions and trust with the community by executing targeted and intentional programming that delivers results. When it relates to young folks, we want to continue to build up the next generation. We know and believe in our young folks to continue the work of equity and inclusion in our city. The Ideal Candidate for this Job Currently enrolled in high school with a strong interest in digital media, design, or related fields. Passion for social media platforms and a desire to create engaging content. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
