About the Role Under the direction of the assistant engineering manager, the tooling engineer understands the needs of the project customers and translates them into specifications for the tester development team to implement, (e.g. electrical, mechanical, software etc.) and checks that the product meets the project team expectations. The tooling engineer is also responsible to lead the global effort in product development, test and develop processes and methods to improve quality of product. Your Responsibilities Highly visible role, the Tooling Engineer manages technical aspects for Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to deliver world-class products on time and cost-effectively Supports Feasibility, DFM, Construction, Tryout & Home line. Support upfront design development of BIW Tooling interaction as well with suppliers to create new manufacturing methods and control strategies to achieve specifications and ensure a flawless execution during launch Approve stamping die/roll die designs and manages suppliers' performance to build schedule Take ownership of the technical management of the products. Support technical questions and follow up to ensure all action items are completed Manage roll form suppliers with priorities, deadlines, and quantities, driving suppliers for on time deliverables Track and manage Line Trial for new dies and Engineering Changes Manage Engineering Changes with supply base to ensure successful implementation Plan and manage outsource stampings Schedules and monitors all roll forming activities, from design kick-off, tooling, and engineering builds through mass production Maintain documentation of internal or external communication, processing data, and other pertinent product information Support commercial and costs activities, fixture costs, tooling costs, test costs, etc., during NPI engineering, builds Track cost approval, PO, invoice to payment, including initial budget, ECR and cost modifications Assists development with new process or materials as requested Short term travel to suppliers required Who we are looking for Working knowledge of current manufacturing techniques -- tooling, roll forming metal stamping, assembly and testing Working knowledge of production and quality control procedures used in a manufacturing environment Exceptional oral and written communication skills Effective skills in establishing and maintaining working relationships with a wide range of individuals from varying economic, social, and educational backgrounds in a manufacturing environment Strong mechanical, time management and analysis skills Knowledge of material properties, mechanics of materials and how these materials react when subjected to varying roll forming/stamping conditions Must be capable of working with peers, subordinates, supervisors, and management on a multidisciplinary team Ability to remain current with state-of-the-art technologies and practices related to the roll forming and metal stamping process as well as develop innovative solutions when necessary Able to use MS Office- Excel, Project, and Word Your preferred qualifications 5+ years of Program Management or Tool Engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment or more Roll Forming and Stamping BIW experience with focus on the design and build of roll forming and stamping dies What we offer At Magna, you can expect an engaging and dynamic
