JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Overview The City of Wauwatosa is hiring for a City Engineer to lead our Department of engineering professionals! The City Engineer plans, organizes, directs, and administers functions of the Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works. This position develops and implements policies, procedures, and practices to provide professional engineering services for all City owned infrastructure. The next City Engineer will lead the City/'s continued efforts to complete high quality infrastructure projects through the implementation of a Five Year Capital Infrastructure Program that exceeds /$150 Million. As a leader of the Engineering Division, the City Engineer will explore creative and forward thinking engineering solutions to ensure the City can meet the exciting and dynamic needs of people that choose to live, work, or play in Wauwatosa. This position has a pay range of /$126,734.40 - 161,928.00 annually, complemented with a robust benefits package. Essential Functions The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned. Manages the development and implementation of City, departmental, and divisional goals, objectives, policies, and priorities. Leads the Engineering Division/'s team by providing direction and guidance on the City/'s Capital Improvement Program as well as engineering operational needs across the City. Provides master planning of capital infrastructure, providing cost effective direction to the Common Council to create a sustainable capital infrastructure management program and replacement cycle, sound private and public development, while protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Collaborates with the City/'s Development Department to ensure City infrastructure is capable of supporting redevelopment policies and goals throughout the City while reviewing proposed developments ensuring all City requirements are met. Oversees the development and administration of the Engineering Division/'s budget. Actively communicates with elected officials, residents, and the general public regarding City projects and other engineering initiatives. Develops effective working relationships with key stakeholders, elected officials, community groups, outside agencies, committees and City departments to foster collaboration. Attends various City meetings and presents information to appropriate boards, commissions, and the Common Council. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Requirements Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor/'s Degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university. Master/'s Degree preferred. Minimum of twelve years of increasingly responsible and varied public or private sector civil engineering experience required with at least six years of project management experience, preferably in the public sector. Minimum of three years of supervisory experience. Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements: Professional Engineer designation in Wisconsin required.
