Position Summary Branch is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Systems Administrator to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong background in HelpDesk support along with a foundational knowledge of Systems Administration. As a Junior Systems Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of Branch IT systems while gaining hands-on experience in server administration and systems maintenance. This is a great development opportunity as you will gain hands-on experience in various IT infrastructure aspects. This role involves an initial rotation of HelpDesk, where you will provide end-user support and gain a comprehensive understanding of our IT infrastructure. This experience will be critical as you transition into more specialized tasks related to systems administration, including server management, patch deployment, and network troubleshooting. Duties/Responsibilities Serve as HelpDesk Tier 2 Support, and Tier I initially and as needed Assist in the installation, configuration, and management of Windows Server environments. Monitor server performance, disk usage, and event logs to ensure optimal operation. Participate in the deployment and management of Active Directory services. Help manage virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Azure) and perform regular backups. Apply security patches and updates to servers and workstations in accordance with company policies. Conduct regular system audits and vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with security standards. Collaborate with senior administrators to plan and execute system upgrades and migrations. Duties/Responsibilities Cont. Assist in diagnosing and resolving network-related issues, including connectivity problems and performance bottlenecks. Support the management of firewalls, routers, switches, and other networking equipment. Maintain accurate documentation of systems configurations, procedures, and changes. Create and update technical manuals and user guides as required. Generate reports on system performance, patch status, and other relevant metrics. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in systems administration. Participate in ongoing training and certification programs to enhance technical skills. Demonstrate a proactive attitude and a willingness to take on new challenges. Qualifications Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A minimum of three years' experience in a HelpDesk or IT support role. Hands-on experience with Windows Server administration and Active Directory. Prior experience troubleshooting Windows desktop operating systems, including Microsoft 365 suite (OneDrive, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Hands-on experience with SharePoint Online Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Azure. Basic understanding of networking principles and troubleshooting techniques. Familiarity with backup solutions and disaster recovery planning. Hands-on experience with PowerShell Scripting. Familiarity / Hands-on experience with writing SQL Queries. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 5+ years' experience in related HelpDesk/IT support role Related certifications Competencies Problem Solving/Analysis Communication Displaying Technical Expertise Organizational Savvy Travel Travel will be expected with this position to and from remote office locations and job sites. Travel will account for less than 10%. This position should anticipate a percentage of after-hours work for server maintenance, upgrades, etc. Supervisory Responsibility No Supervisory Responsibilities. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position which will typically involve 40 hours per week.
