Newport News, Virginia Overview The Coding Manager is responsible for directing the team on prioritization of work, modify responsibilities of the team as volumes shift between assignments, as well as the ability to fill in the gaps to streamline provider coding and charge capture as needed. The coding manager preforms coding and documentation education for all on-boarding RMG providers to include all actively employed status providers, Locum Tenens and contracted. Analyzing problem areas for quick resolution to maintain financial impact of timely charge capture. What you will do Leads daily operations of the department by monitoring and analyzing dashboards, reviewing coding work queues for specialties assigned, and managing production. Manages department workload, schedules, performance, employee relations, and the assignment of coding work queues. Participates in the development and delivery of staff education, training, and orientation. Provides day to day coaching and development. Keeps team informed of changes as they arise. Establishes productivity benchmarks by specialty. Audits and monitors staff productivity regarding timeliness and accuracy of tasks. Identifies issues and develops action plans to correct. Accurately utilizes the ICD-10-CM classification system and CPT classification system in assigning diagnostic, procedural and complication codes to all claims while meeting billing requirements of various payers. Monitors coding edits and denial work queues and provides feedback and education to team members. Maintains positive provider (Physician, NP, and PA) relationships. Meets with new providers, schedules regular practice/hospital visits to ensure ongoing support and education. Monitors systems, systems integrity, coding research, revenue integrity, and financial results. Qualifications Education Program Graduate, Coding Education from nationally recognized Coding Curriculum (Required) Bachelors Degree, Related field (Preferred) Experience 2 years coding team lead experience (Required) 5-6 years Leadership/supervisory experience (Required) Licenses and Certifications Certified Professional Coder (CPC) - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Upon Hire(Required) or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Upon Hire(Required) To learn more about being a team member with Riverside Health System visit us at
