Description Summary: The Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager, Site Superintendent, and other Field Representatives in managing the construction of the project, working in conjunction with other Staff to ensure quality and timeliness of project construction and completion. This position is a Telecommute position and will be performed from the field or home office location. There is 50% travel. The salary range for this position is $93,089-$134,638/year, please note this is a tiered position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : (including but not limited to) Ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications for vertical construction projects. General Contract and Subcontract administration Construction Scheduling P6 or Microsoft Project Maintain control of all project documentation Create, manage and track RFI's from the field to the architect/engineer of record Maintain/update project records Assist the project manager/superintendent in creating and distributing the project schedule Turn in submittals from subcontractors to A/E for approval Assist project manager/owner in getting permits for the project Material & Equipment - procurement and expediting Shop drawing and submittal review and coordination Project cost review with project manager, reporting, updating, and accounting Review and processing of subcontractor invoices and payments Participation in and documentation of project coordination meetings Some supervision and coordination of subcontractors' field installations Change order documentation and associated cost reporting and maintenance Project Closeout Helps administer project budgets and fiscal controls, contracts, and quality control provisions Performs project cost estimating and value engineering as appropriate Some travel will be required in support of other projects Tracking of files and project documents Perform any other duties as assigned by management Minimum Qualifications: All levels: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management Must be able to interpret construction drawings and communicate construction requirements to site construction superintendent and crew Ability to pass a background check and/or obtain and maintain government security clearance Some positions may require U.S. Citizenship Valid Driver's License with clean driving record, able to drive company vehicle Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite and databases such as Access and PowerPoint Able to perform in BlueBeam and Adobe Acrobat Adept at explaining technical aspects of field work to internal and external clients verbally and in writing Level - II Three (3) to Five (5) years of working experience in construction, environmental, or engineering design, specialized training, and/or advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience Level - III Five (5) to Seven (7) years of working experience in construction, environmental, or engineering design, specialized training, and/or advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Federal Government projects highly desired USACE Quality Control experience highly desired Estimating and Cost Control experience Shareholder Preference: Pursuant to PL 93-638, as amended, preference will be given to qualified Ahtna Native Corporation Shareholders, Descendants, and Spouses in all phases of employment. Working Environment: May be indoors or outdoors, subject to confined spaces, changes in temperature, weather conditions, and noise levels. Physical Demands (including but not limited to): Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, stooping for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity, should have good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination. Reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 12 hours. Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds such as small electrical components, equipment, and other materials.
