University of Rochester: Office of the Provost: University of Rochester Medical Center: School of Medicine and Dentistry: Surgery: Surgery: Oncology Salary Range or Pay Grade $500,000 - $675,000 Description The Department of Surgery and the James P. Wilmot Cancer Institute at the University of Rochester Medical Center located in Rochester, NY seeks a full-time faculty member to join a high volume academic multi-disciplinary breast surgery program in the Division of Surgical Oncology. Candidates would join the faculty at the Associate or Professor level, based on the candidate's experience. The main practice site for this position is the free-standing Pluta breast center; this is our primary location for breast cancer care for all of URMC/Wilmot. It is expected that the candidate will also practice part time at a regional affiliated site, specifically the Webster location; all URMC sites provide multi-disciplinary care with medical and radiation oncology like the central location. Also, at both locations, the faculty member will be supported by an Advanced Practice Provider and nursing. In their role as the Associate Medical Director, Regional Surgical Services the candidate would work with the Associate Medical Director of Regional Infusion Services and the Associate Medical Director of Regional Oncologic Ambulatory Services to strategize the expansion of Wilmot services, integrate with and lead as appropriate efforts to assess and assure regional care quality in surgical domains, and optimize multi-disciplinary cancer care across the Wilmot catchment area. This would start with the Division of Surgical Oncology (including breast) (i.e. services within the Department of Surgery). Eventual inclusion of all surgical services in the Wilmot service lines, beyond the Department of Surgery (i.e. otolaryngology, gynecology-oncology). Anticipated ramp up over a 2-5 year period. The U of R is located in Rochester, New York and is surrounded by world class culture, affordable housing and nationally ranked public schools. The City of Rochester is a mecca for the arts: home to a philharmonic orchestra, wonderful museums including the Strong National Museum of Play, internationally recognized dance companies as well as The Eastman School of Music. The Rochester International Jazz Festival is one of the top 10 Jazz festivals in the nation. The region boasts access to great watersports both on Lake Ontario as well as the Finger Lakes. The Finger Lakes region is also home to many internationally known wineries. Rochester has a rich history and was the last step on the underground railroad and the place Frederick Douglas called home. It is also the location of the Susan B. Anthony House making Rochester the epicenter of the woman's suffrage movement. Qualifications Candidates must have completed medical school receiving an MD or equivalent and completed a full surgical training residency program and have passed standardized proficiency testing. Candidates must be BE/BC in General Surgery or an international equivalent, and have completed a Breast Surgery Fellowship program or commensurate work experience. Must be eligible for a full NYS medical license. Desirable candidates will possess a strong commitment to patient care, resident and medical student education, and research. It is expected that candidates will have an interest in developing a broad practice and a clinical or basic research program in Breast Surgery. The Breast Surgery/Surgical Oncology faculty have a unique opportunity to take advantage of both the Department of Surgery, which has outstanding research infrastructure for both basic/translation and outcomes research, and Wilmot Cancer Institute which provides collaboration and regular statistical support. In addition, it is expected that candidates have a background in business administration to support the Regional Surgical Services. A Master's in Business Administration is preferred.
