We are on a journey of continuous growth - now looking for our next star - a passionate Tax Accountant within our Finance capability. This position reports to the Director of Tax and may work in Elkhart, IN or Chicago, IL. As a Tax Accountant in the Finance team, you will assist in tax compliance, research, and reporting activities to ensure the company meets its tax obligations while maximizing its tax benefits. Working closely with the Tax leadership and cross-functional teams, this position will contribute to accurate and timely tax filings and assist in tax planning initiatives. General Responsibilities Tax Compliance: Assist with the preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns and workpapers in compliance with applicable regulations and under the direction of a senior tax team member. Prepare and file federal, state, and local income tax returns and workpapers. Prepare and file indirect tax returns including sales and use tax and property tax returns. Ensure all tax deadlines are met. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, assess their impact on the company, and ensure timely compliance. Tax Research: Conduct research on tax laws, regulations, and rulings to provide insights and support decision-making on tax-related matters. Tax Planning: Collaborate with the Tax team to develop tax strategies that minimize the company's tax liabilities while maintaining compliance with tax laws. Research and Analysis: Assist with in-depth research on income tax laws, regulations, and rulings to provide guidance on tax-related issues and opportunities. Perform research and analysis on indirect tax laws independently with minimum direction. Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring accurate tax provisions and disclosures as needed. Audit Support: Collaborate with external auditors during indirect tax audits, providing documentation and responding to inquiries as needed. Assist with income tax audits as needed. Tax Credits and Incentives: Identify opportunities for tax credits, deductions, and incentives and manage the process to claim them. Tax Documentation: Maintain organized tax records and documentation for compliance purposes. Tax Technology: Utilize tax software and financial systems to assist in the preparation of tax filings and streamline tax processes. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments such as accounting, legal, and finance to gather information, provide tax advice, and support overall financial goal The ideal candidate for this role will bring demonstrated success in a fast paced Accounting environment. Additionally, they will have the following desired skills, characteristics and educational qualifications: Associate degree in Accounting or Finance and three (3) years of related tax experience is required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, is preferred. CPA eligibility or willingness to pursue certification is a plus. Strong interest in taxation and willingness to learn. Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax software is a plus. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently. Prior experience in corporate income taxation and/or consumer goods tax is a plus.
