Description Hanover Foods Corporation located in Hanover PA is currently seeking a Heavy Laborer . This position is primarily responsible for performing general, non-mechanical laborer duties throughout the Plant. Primary responsibilities 1. Sight inspects and removes defects or any extraneous material from product 2. Performs general, non-mechanical, labor duties throughout the plant. 3. Prepares raw materials for production 4. Deposits fatback into cans by hand or meat depositor 5. Responsible for physically lifting up to 100 pounds as required 6. Responsible for container inspections to include seam inspections, proper lid placements, and proper fill levels in containers 7. Responsible for keeping work area clean to include sweeping, dumping, and/or disposing of materials used in production 8. Responsible for understanding how certain equipment operates and how to stop equipment if the automatic function fails 9. Should not leave assigned work area unless given permission by the Supervisor and/or Leadperson 10. Responsible for reporting any mechanical and/or safety problems immediately to the Supervisor and/or Leadperson 11. Adheres to common safety practices/guidelines, including the wearing of protective clothing and equipment as required 12. Adheres to plant hygiene standards to ensure high product integrity 13. Responsible for following food safety, legality and quality policies and procedures within the scope of the job responsibilities such as but not limited to: GMP's, HACCP, safety, product quality, food security, plant security, etc 14. Assists in loading and unloading kettles in the retorts 15. Must be able to operate a forklift, electric pallet jack, bobcat and hoist when needed 16. Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Leadperson Requirements Qualifications Basic math skills Ability to record data onto a spreadsheet Ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to communicate with management and co-workers Must be able to work overtime as required Must maintain a good attendance record Safe work habits
