Senior Development Engineer (Space Systems) Position Profile: The Sr. Engineer (Development) manages multiple tasks and oversees various activities associated with engineering development and production. This position is responsible for project execution of new and existing development programs. The role leads and coordinates the development activities on specific projects and is also responsible for providing organization and focus to the projects to ensure project goals are met. The primary responsibility of the Sr. Engineer (Development) is to coordinate and align multiple tasks, efforts, people, suppliers, etc. for successful project execution along with a good technical understanding of the system, test equipment, and design and development process in order to effectively manage the project. This role interacts regularly with engineers, technicians, program management, and other disciplines (manufacturing, quality, etc), as well as suppliers, test facilities, contractors, and customers. Minimum Required Qualifications: B.S. Engineering is required as a minimum. 5-10 years' experience in product testing and development Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the areas of high-pressure fluids and gasses Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the areas of electronic test equipment Experience using Pro-E, Pro-E Mechanica, and/or ANSYS Excellent verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization, as well as any and all outside agents, including but not limited to; vendors, suppliers, customers, potential job candidates, etc. Highly computer literate, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc. Must be a US Citizen Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities: Ensure that all activities related to product development are executed and documented in a manner which is compliant to corporate and regulatory requirements Develop and ensure timely execution of product plans, procedures, reports Build and test new and existing product Support all testing both in house and at outside test facilities Check technical accuracy of work Trouble shoot non-functioning designs to support engineering Generate action plans and strategies to support and accommodate testing and development of new products Develop, maintain, and optimize the required support systems (computer/personnel) to manage projects from conception through finalization to assure on-time results while achieving desired objectives Develop assembly procedures and document the development build process Design fixtures and test setups that will make testing more complete and efficient Effectively communicate exceptions to established/agreed upon schedules to all affected parties internal/external to the Marotta Organization Full implementation of planning and production techniques for both one off and repetitive product manufacturing Key factors include managing and balancing technical, schedule, and risk. Interfacing with internal and external customers is required as they will be the lead on each assigned program for the development group. Operate electronic data capture equipment and compile all contained data Plan and allocate resources, materials, and scheduling of equipment for max utilization of facilities and personnel Effectively make suggestions and informed decisions quickly Address potential issues proactively and apply real-time problem solving skills to achieve prompt resolution Run multiple projects at the same time and on schedule Familiar with standard SMC-S-016 Experience with National Instruments DAQmx and/or LabVIEW Optional experience with Python Additional Duties / Responsibilities: Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization (as required). Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to all regulatory and internal system requirements. Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. and support actions to drive company initiatives/goals Assist in the training of personnel to perform required technical tasks (as directed) Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant problems. Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned. Ensure that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained. Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required. Work Environment: This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required). This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 8 hours, Monday through Friday. Overtime and weekend work are required, as job duties demand. Some travel is required for this position (20-40%) Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel The employee is frequently required to sit at length, stand, walk, and move about the facility. The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 20 pounds Some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary This position is at our Montville, NJ office location.
