POSITION OVERVIEW: We are currently seeking a Telecommunications Engineer, more specifically, an Engineer who will support the Department's Microsoft Teams AudioCodes direct routing and fax server systems located in Washington, D.C. This includes everything from implementing and managing the Microsoft Teams environment, video conferencing systems, and ensuring a robust network architecture to deliver the highest level of quality. The role is a highly visible role that will work closely with IT teams and business leaders to ensure the optimal performance, security, and usability of the solutions and services. As a Telecommunications Engineer, you will be tasked with... Configuring and maintaining video conferencing systems across locations Providing expert level technical support to resolve complex issues for unified communications and collaboration platforms. Providing engineering support for network maintenance and strategies impacting real time communications. Conducting regular system audits to ensure compliance with the standards and security practices. RESPONSIBILITIES: Deploy and configure certified Microsoft Teams Phones with PSTN connectivity through Direct Routing and Microsoft Teams Calling Plans. Collaborate with telephony providers and third-party vendors to enable advanced voice features in Microsoft Teams. Work with administrators for other workloads, including networking, identity, licensing, security, and compliance. Perform end user requests for moves, adds, changes, and repairs throughout the organization; Leads with number assignment and call routing. Lead emergency service (E911) testing and availability. Report and resolve outages to SIP Trunk and related circuits. Create and amend Call Queue and Auto attendant services. Update all Microsoft Windows security patches monthly or as required Assist with correction and verifying security vulnerabilities Maintain system documentation Maintain maintenance records and audit log reports Perform system backup of data records Maintain IP addresses, hardware and software inventories Lead annual system contingency testing Lead annual system security Internal Control Reviews (ICR) Lead system Security Assessment & Authorization (SA&A) Lead system Security Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical discipline with proven experience. Minimal 5 years prior job-related experience. Proven experience managing and monitoring Teams Phone, meetings, and certified devices using tools like Microsoft Teams admin center and PowerShell. Prior experience with Zoom phones to MS Teams phones preferred. Any MS Certifications or training with MS Teams such as MS-700, MS-720, MS-721, MS-740 and others preferred. Proficiency in deploying and managing audio/visual equipment. Strong understanding of networks, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, and QoS. Operating system will be performed within the defined maintenance window (Saturday after 10:00 PM to Sunday at 10:00 AM MST). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Bending, crawling, stooping, standing, vision, lifting, walking, twisting, turning, and working in unusual positions requiring full body mobility MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a timeline quota.
