Salary: $75,668.00 - $101,805.00 Annually Location : Scottsdale, AZ Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: Department: Education Opening Date: 10/01/2024 Closing Date: 10/15/2024 11:59 PM Arizona Definition Definition: Under general supervision from the Principal (Alternative Sites), the Student Support Outreach Specialist is responsible for providing support to the instructional process with specific responsibilities in identifying students at risk of failure to complete their education. Additional responsibilities include organizing, implementing, and documenting all family and Community involvement initiatives as well as establishing strong partnerships and services with SRPMIC departments, educational institutions, and businesses. Primary Job Functions: Primary functions may vary among positions, but may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and abilities among other characteristics. Examples of Tasks Job Duties Facilitates the planning and development of a comprehensive implementation plan for all parent/adult student involvement activities. Schedules, advertises, implements and evaluates effectiveness all parent/adult student involvement events. Establishes and maintains an active EASIE Title VI parent committee; facilitates meetings as required by grant assurances. Supports student groups across the school to enable opportunities to express their views and influence decisions. Support student club interest. Creates and compiles data from surveys to be completed by parents and students for continuous stakeholder input. Works in collaboration with School Communications and Public Relations administrator as needed. Cooperates with school staff in identifying students who are at risk of dropping out of school (i.e. meeting with parents/guardians, making home visits, participating in meetings specific to attendance and/or academic concerns) for the purpose of addressing crisis issues, mitigating other issues impacting attendance, making referrals and otherwise helping develop strategies for improving attendance and keeping students in school. Works in partnership with School and Community Relations and other district personnel as needed for truancy concerns including for students who have been withdrawn from school to ensure enrollment in their home district or other placement as needed. Compiles student/family information for a variety of uses (i.e. state reporting, social services, etc.) for the purpose of providing information to determine eligibility for services. Maintains a variety of data sources for the purpose of meeting reporting requirements, supporting grant goals, tracking effectiveness of student interventions and providing up to date references with the team. Coordinates with Community organizations (i.e. Salt River Children's Foundation, Youth Services, Tribal HR, etc.) for the purpose of optimizing use of Community resources and crafting plans to support improved student attendance, school success, and post-secondary planning. Implements student/family incentives tied to gains in areas such as attendance, academic, character, etc. Works with school staff, district personnel and other stakeholders for the purpose of sharing and providing information about at-risk students and develops/contributes to internal strategies for improving attendance/academic gains. Submits long range planning and progress reports to the Principal. Communicates with parents/guardians on behalf of school for the purpose of fostering an ongoing partnership between the home and school. Contributes to weekly progress monitoring, weekly mail merge and minimum of monthly materials for various newsletters, SRS social media posts, etc. Maintain data and information regarding students in a confidential matter in accordance with Privacy Act, Confidentiality Act and other applicable standards and ethical requirements. Conduct duties and responsibilities in accordance with SRPMIC School Board Policies and Procedures. May use tribal vehicle to transport students to and from school, for field trips, and other opportunities that will benefit the students. Serves as a good-will liaison between the assigned school and SRPMIC. Performs other job-related duties as assigned to maintain and enhance department and agency operation. Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Other Characteristics A willingness to learn and understand: The History, culture, traditions, and customs of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Knowledge of: Principles of childhood growth and development Secondary school graduation and ADE state requirements Student guidance for diversity of socio-economic, multicultural backgrounds and special education needs Skilled in: Behavior management, intervention and support in a school setting Dealing with sensitive, personnel issues, and maintaining appropriate, professional, confidential relationships. Working effectively on a team Use of personal computers and various software programs, such as, but not limited to, Word, Excel and programs needed to fulfill job requirements Analyzing and evaluating data and compiling reports Ability to: Work independently and achieve expected results Develop goals and handle multiple priorities simultaneously in an efficient manner Communicate effectively both orally and in writing Meet face-to-face with students, parents, and staff to develop rapport, provide information, counsel and refer Establish/maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders: Community Members, staff and families Sit 50% of the time and lift 10 to 15 pounds of materials on an occasional basis Understand and interpret complex guidelines, concepts, rules and regulations Minimum Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in elementary or secondary education with a minimum of three (3) years of K-12 teaching experience and one (1) year of experience with parent involvement activities OR a high school diploma and a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a K-12 school setting and minimum of four (4) years of experience with parent involvement activities or an equivalent combination of education and relevant K-12 experience. Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered. Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill. Driving Requirement: This job description does not require the incumbent to drive; however, any employee who chooses or is asked to drive an SRPMIC vehicle for work related community business must receive authorization to do so. For clarification, work related community business includes driving to and from SRPMIC government sites and buildings. Terms of Employment: This position is treated as a full-time exempt position scheduled for 40 hours per week. Special Requirements Prior to hire as an employee, applicants will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Will be required to pass a pre-employment background/fingerprint check.
