Job Title: Component Engineer 4 Location: Newton, MA 02466 Duration: 12 Months Job Type: Contract Work Type: Onsite Shift Timings: 8:30am - 5:00pm Position Summary: We are currently looking for an ambitious R&D Senior Robotics Engineer to join our Endovascular Robotics business within Advanced Therapies. We are a global technology leader in robotic-assisted vascular interventions. We believe the combination of endovascular robotics, image guidance and dedicated devices will change the way neurovascular procedures will be done in the future, enabling better outcomes, and enabling our customers to provide better access to care. Responsibilities: Develop the complex electromechanical systems of the next generation robotic platform. Apply advanced analytical methodologies including mathematical/numerical modeling and simulations to design, development, and optimization of state-of-the-art mechanical systems. Utilize mechanical engineering design principles of capital equipment and mechanisms combined with application of static, dynamic, and kinematic analyses. Design and develop mechanical sub-systems including concepts generation, CAD design, analyses, documentation, verification, and Design for Manufacturing & Assembly, and Design for Reliability for current and new products. Perform forward and inverse kinematics, finite element analysis of components and assemblies, 3D tolerance analysis, different types of modeling using Simulink, Simscape, or MATLAB programming. Participate in hands-on activities including engineering tests and characterizations. Post process the corresponding test results using mechanical engineering principals and statistical theories. Implement best practices in design methodologies, development processes, and tools. Scout new tools and techniques, internalize, and train others. Plan, develop, and coordinate different trainings as needed. Document the process, design description, test protocols, and test reports. This position may suit you best if you are familiar with what is below, and would like to do develop your career You are able to apply advanced analytical and problem-solving methodologies including mathematical modeling, simulations and control theories to design, development, and optimization of the state-of-the-art complex mechanical systems. You are experienced in mechanical engineering design principles of capital equipment and modeling such systems using statics, dynamics, kinematics, and vibration analyses in different phases of product life cycle. You must be highly proficient with current development tools, software, practices, and processes. Required skills for this role: PhD in mechanical engineering or mechatronics or closely related fields (preferably with research background in the field of medical device). Outstanding academic background with a demonstrated record for high-impact research is required. A minimum of 8 years hands on product development experience (mechanical-machine design) is required. Experience in medical robotics is highly desired. Programming skills and experience using analytical and simulation tools including: MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape, SolidWorks CAD modeling, SolidWorks SIM, and SolidWorks Motion Analysis, CETOL, FEA analysis (e.g., ANSYS), Tolerance, and Statistical analysis tools, LabVIEW, experience with sensors and DAQ systems. Eager to learn new tools and techniques and train others. Experience with motion control, and applied control theories are highly desired. Strong communication and presentation skills required.
